Given how infinitely vast and seemingly timeless the universe is, I would dare to say it's impossible that intelligent life hasn't ever existed before humans.
As Neil Degrasse Tyson says, humans are made up of the most *COMMON* elements in the universe. It's almost a certainty that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe.
I mean. Look at this shit. We are a dot of a dot of a dot of a dot of a dot of a dot a trillion times over. The vastness of the universe leaves no doubt in my mind.

And this is just the *known* universe. There are *billions* of galaxies. And possibly billions [or more] of other universes, too.

@Tatsumi a infinite endless universe just means infinite endless possibilities right?

@HeyITHAPPENS Just about. On an infinite timeline, anything and everything that could possibly happen will happen. Of course, the universe is not infinite. But, for the purpose of wondering whether or not other life exists, it may as well be. And, who knows. Including all the other universes, it might be infinite. So yeah.

Just as possible as anything else that has no substantial proof like a god, or the Big Bang, evolution. Everything theoretically speaking of course.

Yes. There is evidence of an ancient hominid called Denisovans, after the Denisova Cave in Siberia where the remains were found only in the last ten years. They are known almost entirely from DNA that was extracted from several teeth and a finger bone. We know almost nothing about them. Some of their DNA exists today in the DNA from people native to Southeast Asia, Indonesia, and other locations. We know they interbred with both modern humans and neanderthals, but very little else.

Other members of the genus homo have existed, all now being extinct or integrated into the present society.
