Is it wrong to lie about your heritage?

Normally if someone asks I tend to substitute israeli for Italian or Greek. I don't want people to go ugh middle eastern and automatically assume things about me

Don't hide who you are. I always tell people about my cultural background right away and most of them tend to make assumptions about what religion I might belong to and what values I might have. Sometimes I just correct them politely, other times, I leave them to wallow in their ignorance.

The problem is when they discover the truth, they will know you are a liar as well. It only compounds the situation. You will do as you will, but being dishonest about something as basic as your heritage speaks more about you than where you are from.

Wrong, no. Just unnecessary to be worrying so much about what others think about your heritage. If they have a problem with it, they're probably not worth having a conversation with anyways.

U shouldn't have to feel the need to do that. If ppl are that closed minded then screw them. I think ur cool.

It's better to just put it all out there and show you have nothing to hide. Little things like that always come back to haunt you
