Does being polite get in the way of authenticity?
I feel I can never really know really polite people.

@Whispersindreams there are always disingenuous people out there but your post implies that you don't trust politeness...I guess politeness to me is just good manners and not that big a deal.

It can if someone is putting up a fake front.
@Spoiledbrat It feels fake to me. I think people can be polite to a certain degree but too much polite is fake.

@caccoon I lived in a culture where politeness was the norm...it was really hard to get to know people.
