Does being polite get in the way of authenticity?

I feel I can never really know really polite people.

@Fernie For some yes. I like a polite person, I can be very polite but yes, it comes across as fake and a barrier sometimes.

@Whispersindreams there are always disingenuous people out there but your post implies that you don't trust politeness...I guess politeness to me is just good manners and not that big a deal.
