I went to N/A.... it wasn’t for me. All of the stories and substance abuse is bad talk just made me think of all of th substances I liked abusing. For me it was not at all effective.
For me.... daily reminders ( meetings) didn’t allow me to heal or move on. ( I’ve been amphetamine free since 2007) I assume all of their programs are roughly th same.
@humongous Oh, most GPs are CRAZY clueless fkers. Don't you know this? Maybe you live in a land of good DRs.....rofl...😂 Even specialists, are too often ignoramuses. I EDUCATE them. I bring them New England Journal of Medicine.
This would NEVER ever happen in Israel. NEVER.
Ever single person who has ever lived in Israel and comes to N.A. is APPALLED AND DISGUSTED AT OUR DILAPIDATED (outdated), INEFFICIENT HEALTH CARE system. EVER PERSON I'VE EVER SPOKEN WITH.
My Father in law went through the program,it helped him,but I know little about the organzation itself, accepting The Senerity Prayer is said to be attributed to the organization.
I think it's a great support system to alcohol treatment. CBT and things like that are treatment; AA is fellowship.
AA does not require religion or belief in a God; in fact, one of the founders was agnostic. What it does require is belief that an element stronger than our own resolve can the addiction. It can be a sponsor, a group, nature, a book whatever.
AA is, at its core, about surrender, acceptance of another way and active participation in fellowship and support. Nothing more, nothing less.
@humongous you don't take anything they have 10 step guide /process which all try to adhere by and as a circle they help each other keep focused and off of alcohol
I think you are a weak ineffectual human being who does not have enough self control to know when he has had enough and must rely on a stranger to afford him the discipline to stop and prescribe to a program with 12 steps designed for weak wills and pathetic individuals.
@BlueClapTrap With respect, I think you met the wrong group of people in recovery. The majority I know have accountability, integrity, are more honest and self-sufficient than the average person and do anything but whine. AA is a support group, not a course of treatment.
