SimilarWorlds will be under maintenance for 1 hour

We want to let you know that we need to take SW down for up to 1 hour, to make an improvement/upgrade to our server infrastructure.

The maintenance will take place [u][b]today[/b][/u] (very soon), between [b]8:00 AM UTC - 9:00 AM UTC[/b]
(3:00 AM EDT - 4:00 AM EDT)
(2:00 AM CDT - 3:00 AM CDT)

We are hoping to have minimal disruption, but we want to let you know in case you wonder why you cannot access SW 😊👍

[b]Please note:[/b] when SW is back online after the maintenance, Private Messages will be disabled for 30~40 minutes.

@Crusher69 Google "utc time", and compare it with your current time to see the difference. Then take that difference relatively to 9:00 AM UTC :)

Why is maintenance necessary for small websites like sw and bigger websites like google never shut down for maintenance ?

@mysteryespresso For that reason exactly -- because Google (and the big ones) have enough budget and staff to be able to have a farm of servers, so when servers need to be updated, they upgrade one server at a time, and switch/failover the services to the other servers (for example).

@jackrabbit10 server upgrades have never let to any issues as far I recall. (Not for users anyway. I have no idea how much the admins were stressing out each time. 😅)
