We are pleased to announce two great updates to SimilarWorlds!
Zoom Photos - we boosted our max image size! 🌅↗️
Going forward, a bigger size of the images uploaded to SW will be saved so that users will be able to tap them to Zoom.
Since the very first days of SimilarWorlds, users have been giving us the feedback that some photos become too small, and sometimes hard to see or read what's there, especially if it contains text. That should no longer be an issue, as now you will be able to tap a photo (if you see the "Zoom" word located at the top-right corner of it) to view a much bigger size. You can then pinch to zoom into more detail.
To leave the Zoom mode, just tap anywhere.

Create your Own Groups 🥂🍾
Users can now finally create Groups on SimilarWorlds!!
To create a new Group, find any "level 3 forum", like, for example: [1] People & Family > [2] Pets > [3] Dogs, and then press the link "Associated Groups".
If you are eligible to create a new group, you will find this button:
You can also do it directly in this page: https://similarworlds.com/new-group You'll have to search for a Forum to put the group under.
User Groups can only be created within Forums, and not directly under the broader hierarchical parents, Categories and Topics. Therefore, only Forums that can accept Groups will appear in the search results.
Please note: • Only accounts older than 6 months can create new groups. • There is also a minimum account reputation, to qualify. • Non-VIP users can create up to 3 groups, currently. • VIP users can create up to 10 groups, currently. • Groups that are offensive, hateful, discriminative, revolting or disgusting, or containing name-calling or personal attacks are not allowed. • Creating an inappropriate Group will risk you losing the ability to create new Groups in the future.
As this feature is still in BETA mode, some moderation features are still under development, which we will be releasing in the coming weeks. If you find any issues, please let us know. 👍🏼
To find your own Groups, you can go to your Profile, then "Forums", and then press where it says "ADMIN / MOD" at the top of the list.

@samueltyler2 If you re-upload the exact same image (if you still have the original file on your device), it should "upgrade"/tag the existing image in your album 👍
@Nuno When you say the exact same image do you mean just the image or the whole image file? I often add IPTC keywords to my pictures and sometimes I do this after I have uploaded to SW. Does adding or removing a keyword mean that the image file counts as different for SW even though the image itself is unchanged?
Alright but since the latest few updates other problems arose. Opening a larger image or profile photo doesn't display an overlay any more but changes the url so messes with the back button, to get back to where you were you now need to use it multiple times. I don't know why this was changed.
Opening a conversation does the opposite. You thus can't bookmark them any more and refreshing just goes to the messages section instead of refreshing the convo you're on.
Hi Nuno! These are very welcome changes that are now available. I did want to call your attention to something I’ve noticed in posting the past week or two…. The adult button is no longer automatically selected during post creation when the “Nudity” option is checked. Previously up until this, adult was automatically selected along with Nudity. Just wanted to bring this to your attention, as I am not sure if it matters, but don’t want anyone caught off guard, either posting or viewing. Thank you!
Missed opportunity here. You could have required SW coins to make a group. It'll give more reason to justify its existence. It may even keep from overflooding with a bunch of new groups.
@froggtongue We want to provide a good user experience, so this is why we want to allow users to create Groups without any coins or any other form of payment. However, we have a number of restrictions (as described in the post) to prevent overflooding of groups.
