ποΈ π€ΉββοΈ Hello, Similar Worlds! π πΈ
The SW Team is pleased to provide you with an update of what has been implemented since our last announcement.
β’ New Filters: Fetish and Sensitive πΌοΈ
We are aware that many users complain about others posting contents that do not interest them or are hard for them to look. We listened to our members and we are always working to make Similar Worlds a better place. To accommodate for that, we worked towards adding new filters and settings, so that users don't see what they don't want to see.
The new Post Rating Level options look like this, at the time you create a post:
Besides all the options that you are already familiar with, we added two new levels:
Fetish - This category is for content which may be considered to be a "Fetish". While the definition and categorization of "Fetish" is very broad, users are expected to use their discretion, while also keeping in line with the other Terms of Service of Similar Worlds. Please note that this category is NOT allowed the posting of highly Explicit, highly Violent or highly Revolting content.
Sensitive - This category is for content which may be of "Sensitive" nature. This includes content that may be visually or mentally disturbing to viewers. Example: Content that is Mildly Gruesome, Revolting or Violent. Please note that this category is NOT allowed the posting of Strong Violence, Strong Gore or Strong Revolting content.
Descriptions for all rating levels can be found in our Terms of Service.
Only people who want to see Fetish or Sensitive should see them in the Feeds and Groups. If you want to see these posts, you can change your preferences in your Account Settings.
Although we allow freedom of speech, opinion and expression, users are not permitted to bully, abuse, harass or offend other members.
As part of this project, we made loads of improvements. Here is a summary of the most relevant:
β’ Made all Rating Levels options consistent - so they all look the same whether you are creating a Post, uploading a Photo, adding a new Album, Replying to a post/photo, etc...
β’ Search will respect your rating preferences.
β’ Profiles, Groups and Search contain a dropdown menu where you can temporarily raise the Rating Level you want to see, for that page. If your preferences are set to show all levels, then this dropdown menu will not be displayed to you.
β’ Searching Groups when creating a post, and any lists of Groups, will now only show groups that are appropriate for your Rating Level preferences.
β’ More flexibility in allowing users to change rating levels of an existing post, e.g. decrease if they want (as long as it's valid/correct to decrease).
β’ A number of new algorithms implemented to ensure that posts are appropriately marked.
We are pleased to let you know that you can now upload Animated GIFs on Similar Worlds. There is no longer a need to use other services to upload small GIFs.
The Maximum File Size for Animated GIFs is 1MB. Should be enough for most GIFs that users usually post here.
β’ System Fixes and Improvements π§±οΈ
We are continuously working on improving security and other technical elements. As usual, we always work in correcting known glitches, fix bugs, and make improvements to the System, Security and User Interface.
π‘ If you find any weird behavior in our system, please let us know straight away by sending any of the admins a Private Message, an email to us or open a Staff Support Ticket. This is the best way to reach us (rather than creating a public post) and ensure that we will look into the problem as soon as possible.
---
Thank you for your support and we hope you continue to stay with us.
We are constantly listening to your suggestions, so please keep giving them to us, as they are very important to the future of Similar Worlds.
I'm really glad you guys are still constantly changing and fixing things and keeping up to date with what the people want to make Similar Worlds a better place. I may be back for good. Haven't decided yet.

Cool improvements! ππ Especially fetish and sensitive, this is long overdue. So Nuno question for you, you gave us a reporting option for
Nudity content, but not marked as such
so can we get a report option for
Fetish content, but not marked as such
as well to make sure people properly flag fetish content as such?
Would it be possible to have two sets of filters in the future? One for friends/circlye only and one for the other people. For instance I could set my friends on 'adult' level and then the rest to 'mildy adult'.
Thank you for listening to people's suggestions, and for updating us on this new feature. I have a couple of questions. First, how do you decide what is considered "Sensitive"? Some things that some people might find disturbing wouldn't bother other people at all. This seems rather subjective to me. I'm just wondering what the criteria are for this. Also, what about older posts with disturbing subject matter? Will those be flagged too? That sounds like a lot of work.
Admin! On the members profie page - edit profile - allow members to choose only one country setting which cannot be re-edited. Make it difficult for those with fake accounts!
@EugenieLaBorgia Oh I agree that their are a lot of abusers, yet there is a balancing point where things can get far too restrictive. The country thing is one of them. It's the price everyone must pay for freedom though.
@DeWayfarer If SW were a physical place - and it probably is, somewhere - we could all go round and sort them out while admin sat back and enjoyed the show! Oh, they'd love it, sitting there throwing buns at each other amidst clouds of verbal guffaws and gin-soaked handkerchieves to dry their tears of laughter!
It doesnβt work. I tried to make a βmildly adultβ post, but the system on itβs own changed it to Adult Sensitive and wont allow me to make changes.

These new settings sounds a little confusing. π Again please, what is considered a sensitive post?
@karysma There are few issues in this particular case: 1) You need to put the link in an image tag, which is most easily done by clicking the Insert Image button -> URL/Link. 2) This link is a bit misleading. It seems to lead to an image, but actually leads to a webpage. To get the link to the image, right-click it and choose Copy Image Location. That will give you the correct link: https://media1.tenor.com/images/45e529c116a1758fd09bdb27e2172eca/tenor.gif?itemid=11674749 3) The part starting with the question mark is not supported by SW, so you will need to shorten it to https://media1.tenor.com/images/45e529c116a1758fd09bdb27e2172eca/tenor.gif
That will work:
(In most cases the first step will be enough to make it work though.)
Excellent work - as usual! Additionally, readers, if you wish to subscribe to our super-elite membership (which requires a pint of your blood, a canoe of ham, some small potted geraniums and an armchair) you may add the following three categories at your peril!

A great and much appreciated update, especially on the GIFs.
