Just came across the most shocking nonsense I've ever heard coming from a man

He's asked a question. If you hear a noise downstairs and you're a family man, who's going downstairs? He said nobody because his duty is not to protect but survive.

His sentiment is we're all equal, the womans life is not more valuable than the man's and a man shouldnt have to step in front of a bullet to protect a woman. Ridiculous, because we're not just talking about a random woman, we're talking about your wife, but it gets worse. He couldn't even answer when asked what if it's your kids you need to take a bullet for? .

Friggin horrendous.

He must have been a Uvalde cop...

That's just sexist BS. Why shouldn't the woman put her life on the line to protect her husband instead?
SW-User
@Sharon Is this because you have stumbled for a logical argument?🤣😂
@SW-User She's already given you a logical argument. You're the one who is floundering well out of your depth. 🤣
SW-User
@NortiusMaximus Oh the great white knight to the rescue. Tell me. Do you call a man when seeking nanny service?
BlueVeins · 22-25
The real answer is that nobody goes down there bc it's stupid. Point your shotgun down the stairwell while one of your kids calls 9-1-1. He's right that men's lives shouldn't be disposable, but as you mentioned, it's not "everyone for themself"; instead, it should be "we're all in this together."
SW-User
@Sharon So the bus driver has equal responsibility as the passengers? The cleaner has equal responsibility as the CEO? The soldier has equal responsibility as his general?
Sharon · F
@SW-User Now you're just being stupid. I suppose you're proud of that too.
SW-User
@Sharon Answer the question. All those people are "in it together"
SW-User
I'd like to think that most men are protective and inclined to defend their partners when necessary, but I'm not sure how that's supposed to couple with feminism which seeks to remove gender norms. If the expectation is that women can do what men can, why can't a woman defend her family instead?
SW-User
@Sharon I'm almost certain she'd choose the man on the billboard behind the kid😂 .
SW-User
@Sharon I think I'll just get me a gun instead 😂
Sharon · F
@SW-User The equalizer. A gun can be effective against the strongest "real man", even when it is in the hands of a mere woman.
Ontheroad · M
So, for me it's a simple thing. I get up and head downstairs while telling the wife to get the kids and her cell phone. Call 911 and lock herself and the kids in the bathroom. Do not come out unless it's me telling you it's all clear.

My responsibility is to delay as long as possible the threat from reaching my family (so help can arrive) or to neutralize the threat. My size and strength makes me the best choice to do this. My spouse's responsibility is to gather and protect the children.
Ontheroad · M
@Sharon I should note, it's now not true, as we are no longer married, but it's what would have happened.
SW-User
Yes and since men and women both know how to swim then it should only be children first, and with women and men it should be survival of the fittest yes?@Sharon
Ontheroad · M
@Sharon Yep, it would be dumb for the physically smaller, less strong, less experienced husband face off with an intruder. The goal is for the family to come out unharmed, and being dumb won't get you there. You can't, in an emergency let gender roles be the deciding factor. Besides, she is a Nurse Practitioner and would be better suited to healing my beat ass body if the intruder got the best of me. 😁
Carissimi · F
It’s all this equity rubbish. Men and women are the same, so men can get pregnant and women can protect the family by taking a bullet. 🤷‍♀️
SW-User
@Carissimi Yeah I understand where the sentiment stems from but surely the solution would be not to marry a crazy person right? A man must have a protective instinct. This guy isn't even willing to fight for his kids. What kind of man is that?
@Carissimi
women can protect the family by taking a bullet.
She's just as capable as any man in that respect.
Carissimi · F
True, but women are generally not the protectors against violent assaults. @NortiusMaximus

@NortiusMaximus My OP is based on a man answering a hypothetical question.
Sharon · F
@SW-User
That's a typical trait women look for in a mate
Really? I suppose some women, "gold digger" types, do but the modern woman is an equal.
@SW-User
My OP is based on a man answering a hypothetical question.

I know. I just pointed out how outdated, sexist and, quite frankly, offensive, your answer is.
Miram · 31-35, F
He is probably the home intruder in this scenario
SW-User
@Miram That makes sense. If he isn't willing to put his life on the line for his family then perhaps that isn't his family at all and shouldn't be there.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
But he's right, it should not be expected that you should put yourself in danger for somebody else just because they are female, that's sexist. If he chooses to do it that is his prerogative and it appears the man in question exercised those rights.
SW-User
@Sharon You speak as though I'd consider a relationship with you. Why? Because you have a vagina? As much as I'd need to meet your standards as a man you'd need to meet mine as a women and it would take more than just you having boobs
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@Sharon
Partners should work together for the benefit of both.
That's why I really like my partner, all I'd have to do is say 'I think there's somebody down stairs' and she would find a weapon and have my back. I've been married to people who would hide or complain I'd woken them up!
@GeniUs My wife is like yours. We look out for each other.
SW-User
Sadly, anyone can reproduce but clearly some are not meant to. If you no protective instinct then you are not meant to start a family. Sounds more like he’s making excuses for being a coward.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
I think theres alot of that here
SW-User
@Virgo79 I cannot see how a man can be comfortable being a coward.
Sharon · F
@SW-User Yet you expect a woman to be. :(
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@SW-User our society is totally fucked up is the real reason

@SW-User I am just as concerned for my husband's well being as he is for mine.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
I’m 62. Literally none of the above makes sense. You support and protect until you’re dead.

It’s not complicated.
Ingwe · F
I have found that women are braver than men.
SW-User
@Ingwe is that why women of Ukraine remained behind to protect their country?
Ingwe · F
@SW-User They will have the babies to offset the number of fallen.
@SW-User
Is that why women of Ukraine remained behind to protect their country?
That's right, many did if they didn't have children or elderly relatives to get to safety. Some men took their children to safety too.
SW-User
Women and children first when possible. I'll even die for our chihuahua fuck it
I understand what you’re saying, but I can honestly say, protection is not what I’ve sought in a partner. Often, men who see their role as "protecting" their wives also want to control her. That’s not someone with whom I’d be compatible.
Incidentally, many women who feel that they don’t need a man aren’t saying they wouldn’t want one. But "needing" implies you can’t get along without one, and those are the women who end up with abusers, because they believe they have to settle or be alone.
Sharon · F
@bijouxbroussard
men who see their role as "protecting" their wives also want to control her
Exactly! There's a very fine line between protection and control.
