Just came across the most shocking nonsense I've ever heard coming from a man

He's asked a question. If you hear a noise downstairs and you're a family man, who's going downstairs? He said nobody because his duty is not to protect but survive.

His sentiment is we're all equal, the womans life is not more valuable than the man's and a man shouldnt have to step in front of a bullet to protect a woman. Ridiculous, because we're not just talking about a random woman, we're talking about your wife, but it gets worse. He couldn't even answer when asked what if it's your kids you need to take a bullet for? .

Friggin horrendous.

I'd like to think that most men are protective and inclined to defend their partners when necessary, but I'm not sure how that's supposed to couple with feminism which seeks to remove gender norms. If the expectation is that women can do what men can, why can't a woman defend her family instead?
SW-User
@SW-User I'm not a feminist. If a man believes in such things then perhaps they can negotiate turns. I'm not about that and would never marry a woman that would make it difficult for me to play my role as a man
SW-User
@SW-User Maybe he is a feminist lol. Or possibly someone who is defying feminism in a different way to you...meaning he's refusing to allow women to have it on their own terms. Essentially feminism has only ever been about women getting their way, when they want their way.
@SW-User

Basically, you want women to be subservient to men.
SW-User
@SW-User He is defying feminism. He's part of the red pill movement. But it goes deeper than that if you can't even decide whether or not he'd defend his own children yeah? Besides if hes not a feminist why would he marry a feminist women? His answer should be based on the type of woman he would see himself in a union with. Then the answer is easy because a man is a protector of his family. We're not just talked about random people
SW-User
@NortiusMaximus Yes,I want women to bow down to all men and worship.
@SW-User You've already made that quite clear. :(
SW-User
@SW-User Maybe the issue of feminism in society is of greater significance to him. It could be irrelevant whether his wife is herself a feminist or not. I don't know them so can't say lol.

As for his kids, I'm sure he probably would protect them.
@SW-User I respect a woman who is willing to show she's the equal of a man far more than one who considers herself inferior.
SW-User
@NortiusMaximus Men and women are different, but "different" neither means inferior nor superior. People place too much emphasis on that part.

I don't see feminism as a good thing. It really hasn't fulfilled any useful purpose since the first wave...all it's done since the 1960's is create confusion in society and has led to poorer societal outcomes like the decline of family life. Most movements that focus on individual gain and individual drive and individual accomplishments, are not great movements. Also even feminism doesn't know what tf it's talking about anymore. The third and fourth waves are just absolute trash...they are totally devoid of consistency and so obviously compromised by other political and social agendas.

If he's trying to defy the whole I don't need no man mantra then sure. I sure as hell wouldn't put my life on the line for someone that wouldn't or is incapable of understanding or appreciating such a sacrifice. Hence my solution would be to avoid such an individual and marry a woman that will allow you to play your role and appreciate it. It is my duty as a man to protect my family and it is a duty I hold in high regard.

If I'm out with my woman I position myself in such a way that no one is going to snatch her bag and if someone does manage I'm giving chase no question about it. I hear a noise I'm getting out of bed and telling her to stay safe and call the cops. If she can protect herself that's good. She can do that when I'm not around but when she's with me I assume my role as protector. I'm called sexist. I don't mind that term I'll wear it glady. I'm sexist and want to protect my wife. The funny thing is these are the same people who'd gladly applaud Will Smith for slapping a Chris Rock on stage to defend his wife's honour. Why didn't Jada get up there?

There are two reasons as to why people reacted that way and they are both absolutely stupid. To explain, the first one has to do with how it's become normalized for people to play victim if someone says something about them, especially if it's something bad about their appearance, and especially if they claim an insecurity or perhaps some sort of false ownership of their appearance. If that person appears displeased or decides to take issue with the comment in question, people just rush to their defence and they then vilify the person who said it and even defend negative actions taken against them. It's practically encouraged for people to react badly to any kind of joke or perceived bad comment.

The other component is race. If it had been two white men, the reaction from people would have been very different. Even when a black man is hurting another black men, white people are afraid to say anything through fear of being called a "racist". It is actually a way of not treating black people as equals, because we are not holding them to the same standards. People just saw it as a black guy defending his woman, which to me is both racist and sexist when you consider what they usually have to say about women being equal and therefore able to do what a man can do.

In all honesty, I don't like it when men become violent just because someone has said something to their partner that they don't like. People should be allowed to say what they want within reason, and it's really a sign of weakness when men do react like that. A strong person would just take it and walk away, or they would maybe conceive of some clever way to get at that person...not over some completely meaningless comment though.

@SW-User I agree I personally don't think Will should have done what he did based on a harmless joke. It was a GI Jane joke and as far as I can recall that was a female positive movie with a strong empowered female lead proving herself against men. But muh feelings . Chris is a comedian doing what comedians do.

I can't speak on the race dynamics in the US, but the idea of women being just as strong as men is ridiculous. I don't look down on women, heck I myself don't think I can beat EVERY woman out there. There are women that are combat trained, soldiers. Do I think I could take them? Heck no. Do I think they deserve protection from men in a situation that they're in danger? Heck yeah. Me personally, a woman that can fight doesn't men she gets to step in to a dangerous situation while I'm around. She can go fight other women, I won't interfere. But as soon as a man steps up im taking care of the situation.

Given a choice, if you weren't available, which would you prefer to protect your family -
this mere, weak little, woman
or this big strong man?
SW-User
@Sharon I'm almost certain she'd choose the man on the billboard behind the kid😂 .
SW-User
@Sharon I think I'll just get me a gun instead 😂
Sharon · F
@SW-User The equalizer. A gun can be effective against the strongest "real man", even when it is in the hands of a mere woman.
