That is a very interesting observation. Why are so many creative people gay?
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@samueltyler2 or, equally interesting, why are so many creative people not gay?

why are so many gay people not creative?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Yulianna you can twist things as much as you want, but, there is pretty good data regarding this. HIV really was disastrous in art, theater, music, etc.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@samueltyler2 i am not twisting anything, simply bringing up a couple of equally valid questions. and wondering why you introduced a question about gay people into a topic on high IQ?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Yulianna it is a parallel question. The same altered questions could be used regarding highly intelligent people.

I am straight, but lost a number of gay, creative, friends. I crybthinking of the 0lays, songs, paintings, etc, we will never experience.

well, i agree that both questions begin with "Why" but i am not too sure just where the parallels are, after that.

are you suggesting that there is a parallel between having a high IQ and creativity? there may be some correlation, but i'm not sure it's an absolute.

are you suggesting, to look at the other halves of the questions, that there is a parallel between being "a bit off" and being gay? i can't believe that you intended that, but it is an interpretation.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Yulianna yes, I am suggesting that there may be some genetic predisposition that connects high levels of intelligence and poor social skills, and sexuality and creativity. There has always been the debate nature or nurture.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@samueltyler2 but on what possible evidence are you suggesting this? if there is some, i would genuinely love to hear it.

i see you edited your earlier post to include a note of personal loss. i send you sincere condolences for that. but it is evidence only of your friendships.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Yulianna do a search on PubMed and Google. You will see many comments with similar subjects.
Myocite · F
@samueltyler2 so the more creative one is...? I've never heard that but it's logical.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Myocite it may be a type one statistical error, but there is a fair amount of data suggesting it. Look at the famous designers, painters, etc.
Myocite · F
@samueltyler2 I don't have to look very far.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Myocite how is that?
Myocite · F
@samueltyler2 I'm an artist.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Myocite are you saying something about your sexuality?
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@samueltyler2 comments on PubMed and Google are not evidence... we both know that.
Myocite · F
@samueltyler2 not here I'm not.
Myocite · F
@Yulianna Isn't this entire website a place for people to offer their opinions and perspectives?
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Myocite yes, people can say whatever they want... but if it is nonsense, they should expect to be challenged.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Yulianna perhaps you don't understand what I suggested and what PubMed and Google can find for you, particularly Google Scholar. You will find citations discussing the connection. That is how science Works. One never comes up with a perfect finding. Science looks for a reasonable and reproducible association.
Myocite · F
@Yulianna My father was a world renowned research scientist who was a stem cell pioneer & created immortal heart cells. I f****** know what I'm talking about!
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@samueltyler2 i understand exactly what you suggested, but i suggest that "citations discussing the connection" - and i presume you are still referring to a putative connection between homosexuality and creativeness - are evidence of nothing more than citations discussing the connection.

i am sure it would not take me long to find on google many discussions about the flatness of the earth. we would agree, i hope, that no weight of discussion would make that true.

have people discussed the connection between homosexuality and creativeness? ad infinitum! has anyone produced one shred of genetic, as opposed to empirical, evidence of a connection?

so you have the questions, are gay people creative because they are gay? are creative people gay because they are creative? why are so many creative people not gay? why are so many gay people not creative?

you and i have reached this point in many discussions here before. we never get beyond it. so, have the last word if you wish.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Yulianna I don't need the last word.
Myocite · F
@Yulianna all I can say is, God forbid someone give a non politically correct opinion. OH SHAME!!! I can't wait for the pendulum to swing the other way. I'm so sick of it.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Myocite your father sounds a very impressive person. my father is a highly successful businessman, but i would never cite that as evidence that i knew what i was talking about.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Myocite what has political correctness got to do with ant of this?
