What to do

My dream career is to become an animator but my mom keeps telling its a worthless job. But wants me to be a painter. Which to me is the same thing(apparently you don't make money). I just wish she could understand how much it means to me. Should I talk to her or ignore her and keep doing me?

I say talk to her sweetie and tell her how much it means to you. If she still doesn't accept, follow your dreams anyway <3

Thanks. I plan on talking to her tomorrow or when we are alone. I am nervous though she's hard to talk to.

its a tough gig to get into. there was at one point a rush into video game making and that didnt pan out for a lot of people. i have a guy that i know from online that he is trying to go back to school to be an animator but dont know if it will work out or if he will find work but it is what he feels is his calling.

Yeah it is tough and a lot of work is involved but I need encouragement for the days i don't feel like I can do it and she doesn't provide that. She says I just need a backup plan which I will have but its the way she says it I have a problem with.

better than other people who gone to college and have degrees and nothing to show for it. i know a guy who says he knows a few that are doing factory work and they got a degree in automotive robotics it was just the industry became swamped in that field. you have to have a job that you like and love thats the most important thing.
BlackTeaBunny · 26-30, F
Yeah true that's something I don't want to do have this degree and nothing to show for it.

You can animate AND paint. Like... animation is a career in a way painting is not unless you're incredibly fortunate. Go to school for animation and keep painting in your spare time. If you get lucky, you get lucky.
BlackTeaBunny · 26-30, F
Yeah, but she doesn't want to listen so I'm gonna even bother with explaining it to her because she doesn't want to listen
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
Yeah. the argument won't be worth having. Just go for what you believe in.

Thanks for the advice🙂😌

Talk to her because one big mistake people make is not following their dreams when within reason

Best of luck to you. And if all else fails. Have yourself a back up plan career so to speak👍
BlackTeaBunny · 26-30, F
Thanks. Oh definitely I will have a back up plan I'm actually going to take a summer class for my back up plan.

You got this👍

You should talk to a career counselor. They can put you in the right direction plus give you media sources.
BlackTeaBunny · 26-30, F
Thank you. I will talk to one.

Good luck

I have a nephew who works for a company in Dallas named gearbox. They produce video games. He makes over a hundred grand a year and he is only 31 years old
