Can you see any reason why I shouldn’t pursue this

My secondary schooling finishes in about eight months and soon we will be taking to a career advisor. Unlike most of my friends I’m not going to continue my education, after lots of thought and talking to people I’ve decided to become an apprentice electrician. More and more girls are getting into trades these days and that would definitely suit me better than an office job

I hope its an environmental green energy electrician apprenticeship,
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@LUVELACE That interests me very much, I commented to someone else about the same thing 🙂
QuietEd2019 · 31-35, M
@ChloeYoung that’s great green environmental is great the more environmentally conscious the better in my opinion

@ChloeYoung gota be thinkin about the future cause this planet is relying on solid fuels to much and we all fuckn this planet up,so be nice to see a different approach to power etc

No, not at all. If that's what you're into then do it, because if you force yourself to do education you don't want to do, you'll fucking hate it. You'll just go nuts, but a apprenticeship I mean it'll suck at times but it's hands on.
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@Allelse I used to do lots of stuff with my dad in his workshop and loved it. I have been helping my guardians friend running wires around his house and data cable for his security cameras and it been loads of fun
Allelse · 36-40, M
@ChloeYoung Well I'm in a career I don't like and it sucks, so if you can get paid to do something you're interested in, go for it.
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@Allelse My friend said he should have got into robotics, then he could have sat on his fat ass and drank coffee all day while it did his job for him 😂

There’s no reason you shouldn’t. The trades though male dominated are for every one. I applaud you for doing it as there will always be a need for electricians and you’ll never be out of a job
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@ChloeYoung I didn’t know an electrician could specialize, is he making more as a result?
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@MrAboo He is an A grade electrician with a special class license, what ever that means 🤷‍♀️ But his specialty now is electronics
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@ChloeYoung very cool, I was aware electricians could work on electronics and the electric lines. I was unaware there were licensing requirements
Rickg · 31-35, M
Try it
Why not?
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@Rickg That sucks, sorry to hear that 😕
Rickg · 31-35, M
Yea
Trying to figure out what to do @ChloeYoung
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@Rickg I hope you find a satisfactory solution

It pays well and job security because we'll always need electricians. If it truly interests you, go for it.
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@SW-User My friend was saying there will be new opportunities in environmental projects to, I like the sound of that 🙂
SW-User
@ChloeYoung there's definitely a demand for future growth, so many opportunities.
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@SW-User This weekend he said part of what he will be doing is making his house a smart house, 🤷‍♀️ No doubt I’ll find out what that means soon enough lol
Zoranna · F
Indeed they are and there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't. I think yours is an excellent choice.
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@Zoranna Thanks l have been getting a lot of good feedback from everyone, well almost everyone. Apparently I have a knack for being able to bare the cable without breaking the strands, apparently that’s really important 😁
DareeQn · 26-30, F
Be who you want to be. Just do what feels right
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@DareeQn Thanks, the other advantage is I’ll still will be able to focus on my dancing 🙂🖕
DareeQn · 26-30, F
@ChloeYoung dont have to trade one passion for the other, enjoy the best of both worlds
QuietEd2019 · 31-35, M
That’s great go with what you feel comfortable doing sweetheart I hope you enjoy being an electrician 🥰🥰🥰
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Nothing wrong with pursuing a trade. We need people doing those jobs as much as any other. Go for it
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@ViciDraco Thanks, it turns out they earn pretty good money as well
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@ChloeYoung partially because there is danger in it and usually because not enough people pursue it. So many focus on college and overlook trades, so the demand is high
ChloeYoung · 22-25, F
@ViciDraco Yup the guy I was helping said his electrical licence means people’s lives at stake if he was to do something wrong. He also said if I got sick of doing hands on stuff I could always branch out into more technical fields
