Which is more of a real expectation... when you are depressed?

To look for happiness within yourself?

Or to look and hope you can find happiness in finding new situations, places, jobs, friends and relationships?

Came across this "happiness" solution on another post.

Just tossing this out. No arguments please. Poll is done mostly for those that are frequently depressed yet don't wish speak out! True introverts.

I think, when in a state of depression, getting out, experiencing good things, fun things, new hobbies that can spark interest and joy help. Yes, you have to find happiness within. That’s where true happiness lies, but when you’re depressed you need external stimuli to help you, at least in my experience.

I think you have to be happy within yourself. New outlets and surroundings are a temporary fix. They might improve your happiness but I don’t think you should look for things to make you happy. You have to be happy in your own skin and enjoy what you have. Nobody lives a perfect life. There’s no such thing. Life is too short to concentrate on the bad.

I always try. I’m not that heartless 😉. It’s something they have to work out on their own though in the end.@DeWayfarer

@HeilHitler Let me put it this way. What everyone is doing here today on this very site, she wouldn't believe possible. Not even with a computer put in front of her which I did do. She worked on insulators used in the Apollo spacecraft and never believe that the Apollo missions happened. She just was not capable. We were forced to take her car away, and I had to take care of her. Yet even still we had to do all of that. She would walk to the store to get her drinks.

The week we had to put her in a convalescent center she begged for a drink! She passed away two weeks later at 80 years old.

She just was not capable!!!
