I can't argue this.

I can only add that the 'someone else' stated in the last paragraph usually refers to their own self important ego.

The statement, "keeping only select promises makes you an ass," reflects a common sentiment that selective promise-keeping erodes trust and demonstrates a lack of value for others. When individuals choose which commitments to honor on a whim, it communicates that their word is not dependable and that something else is more important than their commitment to the person or promise.

I have known and loved people like this. I am making it my life's goal to never be trapped by that kind of egotistical...and well for lack of a better word...shitty person, like that, ever again.

Yeah .. that kind of thing, not making time available to sustain a relationship / connection .. red flag. If the interest / effort aren't reciprocated its not worth it. I'm moving toward living that more fully going forward.

A man is only as good as his word. In the end, thats all you have. A side note. A promise to a child is doubly important. They are learning from what you do...😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I couldn't agree with you more!!

@whowasthatmaskedman It is not just the promises, or what we say. I have been surprised at the number of times my sons have said "I learned that from you", and reminded me of the circumstances. Invariably it is not something I said. It was what I did; the actions I took with no lecturing. If anything, they watch more than they listen to see if you walk the talk.

@dancingtongue I absolutely agree. Be a role model with your kids is the best advice I can give. Underpromise.. Overdeliver..😷
