needlessly disrespecting a person's gender identity

When I was 15 and used to play Judo, I didn't used to carry a watch while going to practice, mobiles were not there in my country at that time. While taking a break from practice, I went to Table Tennis area, and started watching the game. I was behind a guy who was playing quite good. I needed to know the time, so I waited till one of them missed the ball. I asked the guy, "What's time bro". As he turned back to tell me the time, she turned out to be a girl with boy cut hair style and wearing boy's clothes. I just slipped from there silently.

I guess I did the mis-gendering.

Calling a deep voiced woman sir by mistake?
@SnowBlack Lol, that’s happened to me over the phone. 🤭
SnowBlack · 18-21, F
@bijouxbroussard Me too. I also had a grown woman that sounded 8 years old.
@SnowBlack I have a friend like that, she answers her phone and solicitors ask her to go get her mother or father.
If it wears a dress, but has a wiener, then your 50/50 on misgendering.
SW-User
Calling someone by the wrong pronoun. For example referring to a person as "he" when they identify as female or vice versa.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@SW-User sometimes people do it out of disrespect also. Like in basic training in the military they might call a group of men "ladies".
sassypants · 36-40, F
Misgendering is assuming ones gender or to be mire specific how they identify themselves. Its best to ask or say nothing.

When you see a really short haired girl and call her a guy
It's like when you assume a boy is a girl by mistake.
You get the gender wrong.

And now we have 3 genders it's a nightmare.
@SubstantialKick 😆... I'm trying to keep up with it all.

And there's actually practical applications for the third gender.

I had something happen at work, and I had to make a statement.
And not knowing who was responsible, I used 'they' as the pronoun, so I didn't make a prejudiced statement.

It came in handy 😊

@OogieBoogie There are already 3 genders in Sanskrit: masculine, feminine, and neuter.
@ABCDEF7 IKR!
theres many countries that have three genders, Germany, France etc.

Now I look at it objectively... I think it has logical value.
I dont know why the English language developed without one.🤷‍♀️

It's not like androgeny is new 😅
Another word for "'transphobia'"?
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP Is it, though, if it wasn’t deliberate ? If you use the desired pronoun after being corrected, that’s not transphobia.
@bijouxbroussard I dunno, it was just a shot in the dark. Looks like it was a pretty close one
