You buy a bat and ball for £1:10,the bat costs £1 more than the ball ..How much does the ball cost?

It would be easy to say .10 but that would make the bat .90 more than the ball .
Right or wrong way, I take the 1.00 off and divide what is left by 2 that equals.05 that means the ball costs .05, 1.00 more than that is 1.05 for bat plus .05 for the ball makes 1.10

Three guys buy a meal each and are charged £30. They each chip in £10. The manager tells the waiter that they have been overcharged by £5 in total and therefore to give this back to them. The waiter has 5 one pound coins and thinks it would be far easier to give each of the men £1 back each, and himself pocket the remaining £2. This he does.
So each of the men paid £9 for their dinner.
3 x 9 = 27. With the £2 the waiter kept, that is £29.

@SW-User Why are you adding the £2 in the waiter's pocket to what they paid? That is included in their final bill. £25 went to the meal and £2 to the waiter. If you want to know where all the £30 went: £25 to the meal, £2 to the waiter and £3 back to the customers.
