yes and no. what is really happening, the "ultimate reality" is, and will always be unknowable because we can only see through our senses and our brain creates a model of what it perceives, and its the model that we have awareness of. in this perspective, what we believe cannot change reality. in another way, as i have said, we live and are aware of the model in our brain and it that sense what we believe can very well affect our subjective experience of reality and since this is all we have anyway, than yes, we totally live in the world we believe.
