Who would like a 1970s avocado green kitchen?

Right....and the pink with black trim individual bathroom wall tiles, didn't help, either. 🤭

I have a green original kitchen from the 40's

meggie · F
@Queendragonfly They had pretty kitchens then
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@meggie Agree! It's very charming.
JustNik · 51-55, F
I thought the 70s were ugly even as a kid. 😜
@JustNik Bell bottoms and polyester leisure suits *shudders*

Looks smashing baby (Austin Powers voice) 🇬🇧🤓
Yourguyinthecity · 51-55, M
I miss those styles.
Convivial · 26-30, F
I think I'll pass

I always wanted my parents to buy that colour appliances cuz all my friends had them. But nooo, we had to be the odd ones and have all white appliances
meggie · F
@Jenny1234 a lot of people back then had no colour scheme. I've seen some photos of orange leery patterned wallpaper, green carpets and blue furniture etc and thought it was horrible
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@meggie and they thought it was stylish lol

And I'd bet big the living room had shag carpet. I'd also bet those appliances are still working.
SilkenHippie · 51-55, F
Me, I think its really awesome

We knew those colors sucked in the 70s in the same way we knew big hair was ridiculous in the 80s.

The real gnarly avocado green was more yellow than it looks above. Harvest gold was big, too. Earth tones in general, including the faux-mahogany paneling.

And nobody in their right mind liked that wallpaper.

I was too busy listening to 8-tracks to really care.

Some of those appliances had the build quality of military-grade weapons. Only in the last few years did I have to throw out an old Caloric stove, and even then only because a hinge broke and there was no way to fix it--it still worked electrically. Looked up parts online--my model stopped being supported in 1970, so chances are it was the original one when my house was built....in 1961.

@uncalled4 Correct on all counts. My parents got an electric toaster as a wedding gift in 1960 and IT STILL WORKS.

Oh we were fortunate we had that beautiful gold color
aloneinUK · 51-55, M
Not sure about the wood colour, but I like the green appliances
akindheart · 61-69, F
i had harvest gold i think...all yucky now
bowman81 · M
Nah, plain white is just fine, thank you.
Yeah, I remember the popular colors of the day: avocado, tangerine, mustard. And lots of natural wood.
HotPizza71 · 51-55, M
I moved into a house in the 80s and there was a bathroom in that colour!

Looks better than anything being designed today.
