Who would like a 1970s avocado green kitchen?

We knew those colors sucked in the 70s in the same way we knew big hair was ridiculous in the 80s.

The real gnarly avocado green was more yellow than it looks above. Harvest gold was big, too. Earth tones in general, including the faux-mahogany paneling.

And nobody in their right mind liked that wallpaper.

I was too busy listening to 8-tracks to really care.

Some of those appliances had the build quality of military-grade weapons. Only in the last few years did I have to throw out an old Caloric stove, and even then only because a hinge broke and there was no way to fix it--it still worked electrically. Looked up parts online--my model stopped being supported in 1970, so chances are it was the original one when my house was built....in 1961.

@uncalled4 Correct on all counts. My parents got an electric toaster as a wedding gift in 1960 and IT STILL WORKS.
