How many people don't own a microwave oven?

I've never owned one, we didn't have one as a kid so why have one as an adult

I hate microwaves, they destroy nutrients.

I don't think I know anyone who doesn't have a microwave.

We didn't have one for about 10 years even when my kid was a baby. I had an accident/ major injury 6 years back and was confined to bed for several months. Some friends donated their microwave to my spouse to "help" while I was invalid and we never got rid of it. I pretty much only use it for popcorn and reheating coffee.

My daughtwr insists on not owning one because it forces people to actually cook, is it working? Nope it just takes longer to warm up chicken nuggets
WiFiWitch · 41-45, F
@HumanEarth there are not enough hours in the day to sit around to preheat an oven

@WiFiWitch We used my great great grandmother wood/coal cooking store. They bought it new in 1899
@WiFiWitch As a serious home gourmet I hate microwaves, they destroy nutrients, I much prefer to scratch cook and take my time, nuggies get baked in the oven, with tater tots :)

Me! It's part I love to cook, counter space in my kitchen, and I practice discipline in a weird way I don't want things instantaneous so I can appreciate them more.

I didn’t for the last, oh… 11 years until my partner and I moved in together. I still don’t use it for hardly anything. It is handy in a pinch.

I've had one all my life. I actually don't know if I would know how to reheat some foods without it if I had to.

My family told me to get one, so I bought an air fryer. My family told me to get one, so I bought a sandwhich grill. Microwaves are handy, but they enable you to be your worst self... I've realized that you never truly need a microwave, it just makes reheating stuff a one step recipe.

@AdaXI We don't have an air fryer either.

We just have our wood/coal cooking stove.

It used to be my great great grandmother when it was new in 1899

@HumanEarth Hey what ever works for you my friend. I mean I've always had a microwave just for reheating stuff and my air fryer comes in for certain stuff but I know stuff usually tastes a lot better when you just cook it the good old fashioned way.

@AdaXI We are slowing going back to the old ways of living. We came very close to become Amish, but their religion was too strict for us.

You never had Internet as a kid, why use the Internet now?
I have one. Why not?
HumanEarth · F
@Guardian It never seem worth the money for me. My wife before she was my wife had one and I never used it and she almost never used it. So we just gave it away
Lilymoon · F
I have one and the most I use it for is the timer. lmao
@Lilymoon I use my oven probe thermometer as my timer.
ScarletWitch · 31-35, F
Yes they are useful and i advise you to get one to help make your life easier.
HumanEarth · F
@ScarletWitch waste of money. Like I had a cellphone for two weeks never used it. I ended up giving it away
ScarletWitch · 31-35, F
@HumanEarth your living the last of your years money should be the last thing on your mind. Give it a chance.
RedBaron · M
@HumanEarth Or you could continue to be a stubborn idiot stuck in the mud.
If you're getting by that's fine.

Can't say that I know anyone who doesn't have a microwave (at this point in time); however, my parents didn't have one until I gave them one for christmas about 7 years ago
