I know it’s been awhile now, but when exactly did Dennis Miller…

take that hard-right turn ? And what prompted it ?
He used to actually be funny, seemed like a pretty clever fellow, at one time…

It really is sad. He started out edgy, smart. Then we he went kinda Third Reich .

In some ways, you have to know your audience.

The left is funny. The right is angry. For his show to continue, he had to channel his creative energy right or the show could never continue.

I’m not saying he’s not correct in what he says. I’m not saying he doesn’t believe it. But he seems like a guy who could easier argue both sides of an argument and the show would have a better chance if he stayed closer to the right.
@JovialMoose He may believe it now, but I don’t think he’s correct. The right is angry because they’ve finally been getting pushback for their long-standing bigotry, which means their anger is largely unjustified. People who are educated, erudite, logical tend to lean left because the land of logic, without paranoid conspiracy theories, does.

My take, having worked with him pretty closely for about a week, is that he was always a stone cold prick and the hard right makes sense to those kinds of people.
@Ynotisay Oh, wow. Yeah, I guess it would, then. Too bad he’s a jerk, but it would make sense.

@bijouxbroussard Yeah. He was a train wreck of a person. Sort of surprised me but not really. If you look at his comedy it's really driven by putting others down. I just saw him treat people like shit. But, like all bullies, the second you say, "Don't talk to me that way" they crumble. But for whatever reason most aren't willing to say that to celebrities. Glad I never had that problem. :)

No idea when, but it was quite some time ago and the reason I haven't bothered to watch him in years and years.
@ChipmunkErnie The clip I posted was from back in 1987.
The thing is I can use your exact words to describe a lot of people I know. People who used to be funny and likeable and fun to be around suddenly plunging into the hard right wing pool and coming out all angry and unlikable.
It's something about these times we live in.

Nobody knows trivia like that guy. He wove arcane asides into everything he said. Do you remember him as a color man on football games? His witty banter wasn't well received by the folks at home, I guess.
@SW-User Yes ! I loved that about him. Now he’s just another angry, right-wing jerk. 🙁

He was funny right up to about half way through the first season of that talk show he had…whatever it was called…with the Tears For Fears intro song 🤷‍♂️

At least he seems mostly sane ,the Dukes of Hazzard guy,John Schneider, said Hunter and Joe Biden should be publicly hung
@hunkalove Kathy Griffin held up a fake Trump head and got skewered by right-wingers. She hadn’t threatened him.
Snoop spoofed shooting a clown Trump figure. He didn’t threaten him either—but I hadn’t heard about it until recently. Had you ?
I guess it depends on how well one is liked whether or not it’s perceived as a threat.

@bijouxbroussard She didn't threaten him. I'm not a fan of hers but it was pretty funny.
@hunkalove Trump and his buddies weren’t amused. They were ready to burn her at the stake.
