Amazingly no one has

Yet blamed the UK for the Middle East, after turning a broadly tribal region into nations at the end of the Palestinian mandate. Maybe we don’t look far enough back, after all we repeated that error in joining the Iraq war.

I've been through all that decades ago, so I guess it's old news. Drawing national lines that put rival religious tribes into the same nations. Making sure countries with resources got landlocked without ports to make sure their trade could be more easily controlled or hampered by what happens in Europe. Basically divided the region in ways to maximize hostilities between those local to the region.
