Do they know what brambles are, I thought is was a British name for the bushes.

@Uncfred maybe not i have googled the definition
ninalanyon61-69, T
@Uncfred It is. But where I am from we refer to the plant as a bramble. But we say we are picking blackberries not brambles. At least that's how it was fifty or sixty years ago, I left in 1974.
Uncfred61-69, M
@ninalanyon Exactly, and that is how we knew them too, in the north.
ninalanyon61-69, T
@Uncfred I'm from so far south that that could be anywhere north of Oxford! :-)
smiler201256-60
@Uncfred 馃槅this was only a crazy pun i thought up in a moment lol geez i was not expecting an inquisition on what is a blackberry and what is a bramble 馃槅馃槅馃槅

@smiler2012 Just us oldies going back in time young'un. 馃槒
Uncfred61-69, M
@ninalanyon OXFORD? That makes you a Londoner.馃槄
ninalanyon61-69, T
@Uncfred Certainly not! West Country, half Cornish. When Londoners think of the north it's Watford they have in mind! :-)

My grandfather on my father's side was from London though.

@ninalanyon Not to worry, I am a born Yorkshireman. Half Sot and half Irish and spent half my life on the south east coast. Now live in Poland, about 400 mile west of Kyiv. I did spend six months in Cornwall though (Emit or tripper).
ninalanyon61-69, T
@smiler2012 That wasn't an inquisition, it was a disquisition. :-)
ninalanyon61-69, T
@Uncfred I wonder how many people on SW will know what emmet means. That's the way we always spelled it in my family, not that there is a really standard spelling as far as I know.

How did you end up in Poland? Marriage? Or went on business and never went home? That's what happened to me in Norway.
Uncfred61-69, M
@ninalanyon Marriage, she died in February and I miss her.
ninalanyon61-69, T
@Uncfred Sorry to hear that. My wife died almost six years ago, it has got easier but I still do miss her too. Did the two of you have children in Poland? Will you stay in Poland? I visit the UK a couple of times a year, now that I am both retired and widowed but I won't be moving back permanently.

@ninalanyon actually i only joking with my original comment you never take me seriously i love a laugh and joke and a bit of fun 馃槅
ninalanyon61-69, T
@smiler2012 We are also joking. It's a British thing I think to push anything even remotely funny (or just very, very, mildly amusing) to absurd lengths. Your inquisition remark reminded me of Monty Python.
