Female canines have a big, Y-shaped uterus which allows them to have litters and, with their rate of production of ova, also allows them to be impregnated by more than a single male dog.
@NerdyPotato it happens with cats--it is common for kittens in the same litter to have different fathers. It's also been known to happen with human fraternal twins, though less common.
