You tried and know you love the lifestyle and now you know you need to put it on hold. I think it is the right choice for you when your son is older. You would always wonder what if, if you didnt try.

@Spracer it's definitely a bummer because i could live this way forever, but its not fair if my son isnt safe or I'm not able to provide enough. He's most important. And heck yeah we aint stoppin now! Lots more to see. And I'm also glad to just be far away from "home".
Its gonna be much more simple with one or two adults. Im excited for you hun because this shit has helped us grow a great deal.

don't consider it a failure
consider it an experience. very few choices are permanent.
you've enjoyed some things, you've learned some things. remember them :)

@RebelFox you've given your son some interesting memories in the meantime. but you're absolutely right - you guys need to be safe. and he probably needs something semi-steady to socialize with kids his own age (although that can be a nightmare too).
you rock OF! keep up the good work.

It’s just a recalibration. Two thirds of parenting is being flexible 💚
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@summersong and the other 1/3 is...oh hell who has time for THAT
RebelFox · 36-40, F
@summersong yeah. He's sick and I'm just understanding I cant do every single thing alone. Its not safe or healthy for us 🖤

I can imagine That would be hard to do with a child
At least you took that risk, that chance, no regrets, just memories and adventures. Well done for giving it a go and good luck when you feel up to trying again. I for one both envy and admire you for having the balls to give it a go. 👏👏👏👏👏👏❤
RebelFox · 36-40, F
@Mindfulness No regrets! And well keep going as far as we can. And I'll be back out here one day. I need almost nothing, but kids are a lot of work as it is.
@RebelFox And they have to be your priority. Well done for living our dreams for us. ❤

But it's a good thing that you tried it. It's not like it was some half-ass thing you did for someone else - this was for yourself. You have tried it, so now you know more what to expect and are better prepared should there be a next time. 👍

Settling sounds good, being safe and secure, i put those above adventure personally. All my changes are miniscule to alleviate tedium. All the best to you and your son.

What type of can do you use and how do you make it livable?
RebelFox · 36-40, F
@Rickg Thats only part of the issue with living this way. Parking is a daily ordeal, finding water, dumping, propane, maintience, cleaning and regular life shit while living mostly outside. All that is fine. Its the safety factor. We keep getting hassled and when one of gets sick its hell.
Rickg · 31-35, M
Yea
That’s what I was worried about
I’d keep having a day job so cash flow wouldn’t be a problem
But I can’t think of anywhere that would let me park long term, or hook up for any power, water, waste
I know there’s trailer parks near where I live but they have limited space and I think they might only be seasonal @RebelFox

When my Mom died I felt I needed some kind of change and I shaved my head -- never again.

You have total cred for getting out there and trying something different. The world is full of people with big "plans", but they're usually just talking the talk. You walked the walk. Best of luck in your next steps--I know you will kill it, no matter what you choose.

Oh my! Kids need a home base and stability

I hope he feels better.
