The Western world in comparison to the eastern world

Primarily Asian countries

Why do we as western society act so impatient and impulsively in comparison to these societies that have advanced technology yet they still are more disciplined and patient than people who live on the western world

Why do you think that is?

I've wondered about this. They never seem to get ahead despite a high IQ. I read about people from China bragging about their government when in other countries. People from the Soviet union when away would mock and ridicule their vile government. Western people say the squeaking wheel gets the grease. In Japan they say the nail that sticks up gets hammerd back down. If you're wrongly accused in Japan, you're expected to take one for the team and accept it. There's something naturally collectivist there maybe.

@HobNoblin Ive also thought this too I swear 🤦‍♀

cultural difference. asians often have more rigid societies and very judgemental so no one wants to get out of line.

we are more free so we can do more openly what we want.

but impatience is just shown in different forms

@popmol that’s a great explanation

Do they? I've heard things that for instance a boss isn't really patient with their employees. 🤔

@Classified shut up and get back to work 😤

@DeluxedEdition No no, I'm would be an expat there. I could get away with stuff. 😌
I don't think that is true at all.. people the world over are impatient
Asian cultures then to focus more on the community and the family than individual

Can you share some scenario/example to better understand the question?
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@ABCDEF7 sure 😊

The first thing that comes to mine is origami or even the way that they cook. I used to really like to watch Korean cooking on YouTube because the handle the food so delicately.
They’re so gentle with the food. And it isn’t viewed as an emasculating thing.

They’re fighting techniques are more strategic opposed to American wrestling

Those are just some things

@DeluxedEdition I guess it is because of their cultural connectivity. They have a developed culture of their own and respect that cultures. So the thought of doing anything absurd just because it came to someone's mind and they feel free to do it, is not promoted that much there.

I don't know what is West and East culturally anymore.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@CrazyMusicLover that’s what happens when you’re into trillions of debt with china 🤭

We're wealthy and materialistic and social media has given us ADHD
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Rolexeo they’re also very wealthy and materialistic and they’re very into gadgets and social media as well 👀
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@DeluxedEdition I'm thinking of China mostly. The people working in sweatshops 80 hours a week and making like 12k a year
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
we tend to focus on material wealth and practicable issues over spiritual and such issues
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
@CrazyMusicLover true true. they have become more Westernized. I mean the world is becoming more competitive so that could be why. it must be having an effect on their culture.
pancakeslam · 41-45, M
@CrazyMusicLover also I get that some people turn spirituality into a business, offering some kind of healing arts, psychic reading, or religious service, whether or not it's of any value, at least it makes a living
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@pancakeslam Yup. It's like offering traditional potions, ointments or exotic products but they only sell it to tourists, don't use any of it themselves. 😆

It’s the American way

Social media and smart phones conditioned Americans for instant responses. Getting a notification gives you dopamine z
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@MrBrownstone this is true, but you have to take into accountability the Asian cultures having access to technology as well

They’re very tech savvy, and they really like gadgets

So if they are also being exposed to gadgets technology devices and social media, why are they not as impulsive / impatient as us?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@DeluxedEdition Great question. I can only speculate. Respect is more prevalent in Asian countries as well as patience.
Westerners are easily distracted and loves comfort..

Throw a shiny object and promise them utopia and you see the end result
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout the irony being, that's exactly how many asian countries got their people to embrace communism...🤔
