What does volunteering have to do with your birthday. Seems a bit selfish that you think people you are helping because they are in a bad spot don't matter because they won't remember your birthday

@Cigarguy First of all, I was talking about the other staff there not remembering it. Second of all, it has to do with it because the month I want to take off is the same month my birthday is in. You're angry about a throwaway comment which I put in as a random thought which isn't really related to the rest of the comment outside of a tangential connection which I found amusing. None of the clients know when my birthday is, nor would I expect them to ask in the same way I don't ask when theirs' are. Hell, pretty much none of the current staff know either, but the manager does because I've known her since I started there (we started volunteering at the same time). If you really must know, there are like two people there who do know it but I wouldn't expect them to remember it because none of my friends ever do, nor do they much seem to care should they notice at all.
