Why was I never told that deer and moose lose their antlers every year?

Whyd I think that once they had them they just kept them?
BitterSweetPotato · 31-35, F
Because there has been a big, big conspiracy, to hide this critical info from you.

I am actually an antelope in another life, and yes, we also do grow horns during winter, which will be now 🥔😚
BitterSweetPotato · 31-35, F
@deadgerbil Why don't you kiss his ass already? 🥔☺️

@PepsiColaP see my explanation above
itsok · 31-35, F
@PepsiColaP ITS REAL
elafina · 36-40, F
Not only that, but every year one extra "bone" is added to their antlers...i grew up close to them, well as close as you can get...not much hehe
itsok · 31-35, F
@elafina really?!
elafina · 36-40, F
@itsok aha yep ;)
kodiac · 22-25, M
They just drop them anywhere!
itsok · 31-35, F
@kodiac Do you know why it’s illegal to keep them?

@itsok It's a blanket restriction to curb poaching like they do with the eggshells for birds of prey. With it in place it removes any question of whether or not you are breaking the law since only a licensed hunter will be in possession of them it simplifies tracking instead of having a bunch of people tying up the lines trying to prove they came by them innocently.
SW-User
It's on a need to know basis 🤫
itsok · 31-35, F
@SW-User why are we keeping the antlers secret?!?!
SW-User
@itsok They're being used for a top secret purpose, can't say any more
deadgerbil · 22-25
*goes back to reading my non fiction books on animals*
itsok · 31-35, F
@PepsiColaP I KNOW. Why am I not finding antlers lying around?
@itsok FR
@itsok sus
wackidywack · 22-25
I didn't know that shit, what the fuck ??
Ontheroad · M
As with all classified information, it's on a need to know basis. Do you need to know? Of course you don't and now that you know, you will be investigated under the "antlers" conspiracy act.
itsok · 31-35, F
@Ontheroad noooooo 😭

black4white · 56-60, M
Just remember this
Antlers drop every year
Horns are permanent and never drop from animals

When antlers drop will life will take those and eat them for food source and that is why you never find them
Freeranger · M
Oh dear....you need a hug itsok. But look......it's all part of the design. Those antlers return, and sometimes more magnificent than the last pair.
Pouring verbal ointment on yer pain amigo.

Pretty sure you need to know the handshake at the lodge before you get into moose secrets. 🧐
itsok · 31-35, F
@Pfuzylogic teach me the handshake before I get kicked out. I’m learning all the moose secrets
Pfuzylogic · M
@itsok as you will notice they hide a lot of their fingers so you have to be careful !

@wackidywack that is DISTURBING
@wackidywack that looks like an A24 movie teaser I
i love it
black4white · 56-60, M
@itsok This is the moose shedding the "velvet" off its antlers because its about time to get game on and fight with other males for the females.... hahaha
Degbeme · 70-79, M
I can see where we need to sit down and have a serious talk. 🙄🤭
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Probably because it’s not a good visual image to see
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
I know deer do loose them.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
Because that's the way teeth work, and antlers are sort of like teeth on the outside of the body?
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@SW-User You mean you don't?
@DunningKruger You mean fingernails? Which would be hooves for cows and horses.
itsok · 31-35, F
@DunningKruger sorry I can’t come in to work next week, I just lost my teeth 😒
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
Yes. Good emergency winter foodsource for any foraging animal that finds them
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@itsok Yes. Porcupines, fox, coyotes will gnaw on them. Anything is good when you are starving right?
itsok · 31-35, F
@LunarOrbit *bites my fingernails*
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@itsok Exactly. Same composition
Funlov · M
Because a deer doesn’t a buck does
Funlov · M
@itsok and for the moose it’s called the bowl the female called a cow
itsok · 31-35, F
@Funlov ah ok. I think a buck is a male of more than just a deer
Funlov · M
@itsok you got it but if you find a nice set of antlers are worth money, count the tips they’re called points anything over nine is worth a bit big money
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
To make it more confusing, some do and some don't. Depends on the species and the gender, I think.
ArminArlert · 22-25, M
So do make reminders, which means that Santa's sleigh is pulled by women! 🤣
empanadas · 31-35, M
Damn well, I will never look at them the same
