From being my closest friend to avoiding me like a plague...

Confirms that he definitely has guilt he wants to bury. That his intentions and interests were never pure. That he's scared of any sort of "bad image" now that he's gonna be married.

He probably should have worried about that when he was busy leading me (and other women) on. Makes me realise he was never a friend.
Just a snake.

They're really crueler
there's a saying in our literature which can be roughly translated to ' A snake and a cruel person are both cruel, but a cruel person is more dangerous because a snake bites once and can be subdued by herbs, a cruel person cannot be subdued by any means and continue to hurt you repeatedly

It's part of the typical morality - he's required to know you and understand women through you, and he's required to dump you.
I always knew it was temporary, I'd get out and make friends and sleep with lots of men as a young woman, and be dead to them as a mature woman. There was no older lady around. Zero. Dozens of mature men, lotsa young chicks - and our city literally didn't have useless older gals. Gone.
