Get involved in local activities. I was on a swimming team for a while and made a bunch of friends.

I am worried about the loneliness epidemic, mostly for the next generation. So much of what people used to do is now being done online. Growing up, the mall was a great place to meet people. But now because of online shopping, a lot of malls are closing.

Personally it takes time for me to make friends

Its different for everyone.

You can try meeting up with people with similar hobbies or interests through events.

For example, I have attended a tech event recently and made some acquaintances.

Sometimes one of those acquaintances may become a friend.

I'm looking to make friends, too. I think the world I live in is so different - not better or worse, just different - that it's hard for other people to see where I am. And when they don't understand, they just go the other way. Or, maybe think I'm crazy. I long to belong. But I'm not willing to betray myself for the sake of belonging.

Look for group gathering of things your interested in...

Or activities that you enjoy and if there is a group or meeting for those activities.

But generally speaking, no, I haven't seen great options, and seems like there is very little happening in my area.

Don't try so hard. Just keep doing you. Your people will find you.

Just be yourself. Anyone who wants to befriend you will accept you as you are.

Don't need human friends when you have a dog or cat.
