Why can’t there be play dates for adults?

I’m at an age where making new friends seems awkward, and yet here we are. How do you go about making new friendships, and what do you hope to get out of them?

I use food and cooking. Since I was at college, inviting someone for a meal has been the main way in which I make social connections. I expect undivided attention for an hour or so, and perhaps a return invitation 🙂

@SunshineGirl I've started entertaining at home again (post-Covid) - had an old friend over for a fairly traditional Sunday Lunch a few weeks ago.
