a young man wants to die heroically for a worthy cause.an old man wants to live humbly for one.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Depends on the cause.

I must say though, I'm not attached to anyone in my life. And haven't been for decades. And not that I don't want to be attached. I just don't want to force the issue.

That's about as none fanatical as it can get. Forcing issues is never right. Acceptance is where it's at, when not being forced.

In other words I will defend, yet only when necessary. Never attack. Attack is forcing.

I joined the military as a young man. I became disabused very quickly. it is not a great cause nor is a nation a great cause. They will let you be killed and not even blink an eye.

@emiliya Ah yes but a warrior is a sacred cause. You are fighting for the Nation.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
While we all would like to think we are selfless enough to give our lives for a good cause, I personally think you'd have to be in that situation to know what you'd do. Fight or flight instinct is deeply ingrained in us all. I also think "a good cause"...maybe. Protection of our family, our beloved, and ourselves...more likely. I am fearfully certain we are coming closer and closer to times in which we will find out exactly who we are, and what our responses will be.

I know what mine are. I was born for this.

@whowasthatmaskedman I types scones and felt playful doing so, it was nice being played with on such a dark post
emiliya · 26-30, F
Need not answer? What cause is greater than God?
emiliya · 26-30, F
@whowasthatmaskedman God put you here. That is how you earn those things. Are you praising yourself or praising God? What man heaps praise on himself?

Nobody earns children, and it is children in whom we feel pride. Am I proud? Not of a thing, but my children.
emiliya · 26-30, F
@whowasthatmaskedman I could be a doctor in Miami or Los Angeles and still not feel proud. What the hell is there to be proud of? It's just a job.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@emiliya I agree completely. My job has taken me places and allowed me to see and do many things. None of that means anything. I work to earn and offer my time to my family. Of them and the job I have done with them, I am proud.😷

I can't think of anything I would even bother voting for.
I'd sacrifice myself for no reason whatsoever right now.
DrDoom · 31-35, M
@HootyTheNightOwl Okay, suicidal people are also banned from answering right now.
@DrDoom Well, you did say:-

Religious zealots and idealists need not answer.

You just forgot to mention people fighting the great fight.
