A Little Me Time

Day to myself as my soon to be ex-wife is with our son/daughter-in-law for Mother's Day. Took advice of a couple friends here to find a bit of time for myself.

Loaded up the dogs bright and early and hit the dog park, then drove up the mtn gap road to an Appalachian Trail access point. Did about a mile each out/back w a snack/sip at the turn point and hit another park for a bit on way back

Got my happy mother's day greetings out to my Mom and step Mom. Time to get back to crossing tasks off the list, but had a nice morning.

Happy Mother's day to all the Mom's here! 🍷💐🎁

I am really trying to focus on more self care myself. Been trying to do something every day.
@Cigarguy That's a good goal

@Cigarguy There are a lot of good books out there. Helped me through some tough times.
@Cigarguy I started simple w eating better .. then exercising more .. then getting more sleep .. after I get settled with changed / new habit I start looking at what to try next.

There are podcasts, books and other things out there on just about any topic related to health /mental health self-care. Still trending down and have kept what weight I've lost off for 5 yrs now. Struggling to be consistent with improved sleep habits so working on some other stuff in parallel until I can break through the sleep roadblock.

@BrandNewMan Do you track your sleep and exercise, with a Fit Bit or something similar?

I personally like the FitBit Charge watches. Very small.
@DogMan Not at this point re tracking sleep. I use MyFitnessPal to track food/exercise and basic macros. Trying to minimize processed foods, refined sugar, most grains and focus on whole fruits, veggies and leaner meats.

I need to push harder on exercise .. kind of hitting a slowdown in weight loss .. and know that will help the sleep as well

@BrandNewMan Get your butt to the gym. I know some people don't like the gym because of so many people.

I like it because it energizes me to see a lot of people working out. Don't worry about what others are doing, do it
for you. 20-30 minutes of cardio, 20-30 minutes of strength training, 5-6 days a week. Find the things you like to
do, and go for it.

Take care, I'm leaving the office now and heading to the gym. I herniated a disc 5 weeks ago, but still working out.

Getting a lumbar epidural tomorrow. Been hanging on an inversion table for the last three days, 10 minutes each,
it's like a miracle.
