Good morning!

Huh....some days I feel i've done a days work begore I even get to work! Washing, stripping beds, dishes, hanging out the.washing....
I've been moaning for months I've not had much work this term ( i work for an education agency) but ive had a full week last week and 4 days this week....and im totally knackered!! The school has the inspectors in this week and everyone is stressed! I'm full of cold ( the joys of working with kids).....but the plus points.... i've actually a few quid up, the sun is shining and I was informed tomorrow is a staff training day, so I'm not needed and I can have a lie in and catch up with my housework!! 😁
Have a great day all. X

It's wonderful that you are working! SO much better than having no work at all, and financially? Awesome! Yes, it's exhausting as we get older, but I am so glad you've got a day off!!! Rest up!

@4meAndyou i'll be honest... i'd be happy if i never had to work again!! But, while I can, I need to keep doing a few days. I tell you, running around after 40 5year olds is never easy evenvwhen your young and fit. Put age, arthritis, and sciatica in the mix .... its very tough. I've been hit, kicked, pushed in the stomach so many times today.
What a day.

@4meAndyou it is hard going. Most people really don't believe the challenges ...they seem to thing we exagerate. Also.....in truth....i was physically assaulted at least 6 times yesterday by two different kids. I wasn't injured, they caused discomfort and pain. But...they are 5....so it seems we are just supposed to put up with it.
My concern is.....no consequence means they are growing up believing it acceptable behaviour .....

@RubySoo You could ask the teacher of the class in which you are assisting to mention that behavior to their parents, if and when they have a teacher's conference? Otherwise the parents won't know to correct the behavior at home. Just shooting spit balls, here. I'm NOT the best person to ask....I burned out on kids in group settings a LONG time ago!

@4meAndyou its all known. One child is AS.....in my opinion, mainstream school is not the place for him....but hes thete so we have to deal with his behaviours best we can. He doesnt hurt you in malice, but doesnt understand. And he climbs and jumps and its such a struggle just trying to keep him safe. If he hurts himself...the staff would be held accountable...but if he hurts us... ??
The other child has behaviour issues. If you met the mother...you'd see why!! Shes already moved him from 2 other schools coz staff 'picked on him'. He simply hates being told what to do. The minute i asjed him to sit at a table yesterday he just threw everything in reach at me, slapped and kicked me. Of course teacher witnessed, recorded the incident.....but all we can do is try to calm him down. There is no concequence for the child.

@RubySoo Oh my gosh!!! That's awful! My mother was what they used to call a "permanent substitute teacher"...she would take over when the real teachers got pregnant, in other words. She had one 6th grade student who was so disruptive that the other kids could not be taught at all...so she used to buy him loads of comic books. She didn't require that he participate in class whatsoever, and at least the REST of the class received an education.

But little 5 year olds who ALREADY have huge problems? I feel so sorry for YOU and for the SCHOOL!!!
