It's wonderful that you are working! SO much better than having no work at all, and financially? Awesome! Yes, it's exhausting as we get older, but I am so glad you've got a day off!!! Rest up!

@RubySoo You could ask the teacher of the class in which you are assisting to mention that behavior to their parents, if and when they have a teacher's conference? Otherwise the parents won't know to correct the behavior at home. Just shooting spit balls, here. I'm NOT the best person to ask....I burned out on kids in group settings a LONG time ago!

@4meAndyou its all known. One child is AS.....in my opinion, mainstream school is not the place for him....but hes thete so we have to deal with his behaviours best we can. He doesnt hurt you in malice, but doesnt understand. And he climbs and jumps and its such a struggle just trying to keep him safe. If he hurts himself...the staff would be held accountable...but if he hurts us... ??
The other child has behaviour issues. If you met the mother...you'd see why!! Shes already moved him from 2 other schools coz staff 'picked on him'. He simply hates being told what to do. The minute i asjed him to sit at a table yesterday he just threw everything in reach at me, slapped and kicked me. Of course teacher witnessed, recorded the incident.....but all we can do is try to calm him down. There is no concequence for the child.

@RubySoo Oh my gosh!!! That's awful! My mother was what they used to call a "permanent substitute teacher"...she would take over when the real teachers got pregnant, in other words. She had one 6th grade student who was so disruptive that the other kids could not be taught at all...so she used to buy him loads of comic books. She didn't require that he participate in class whatsoever, and at least the REST of the class received an education.

But little 5 year olds who ALREADY have huge problems? I feel so sorry for YOU and for the SCHOOL!!!

RubySoo · 56-60, F
@tobynshorty ha! Who else will do it? Erm....no one!! Im not obsessive about it, my home is truely 'lived in' but the essentials wont do themselves sadly.
