I believe that holds true for some. But maybe not for others.
I’ve always had guy friends over the years. Purely platonic. And they are just as good as friends as girls are.

@CookieCrumbs this is a perfect/best answer in my opinion.

I’ve always had a lot of male friends without any weirdness. Maybe it’s just because of how I am but I really don’t get what the big deal is.

One guy I once heard about shared his apartment with a girl 'friend', and when he brought a potential girlfriend home she did everything she could to wreck their new relationship. Not all girls are like this, but there is a tendency with some to feel put aside if the friendship is viewed in the wrong way - i'e. possessive.
@CastorTroy I have some how gone through this..we were friends forever, but after a while my ex used to tell me that she was finding jealousy and element of competition in everything we did.
Yes, in short.

I should add my own post to this group lol..
It frustrates me though to no end that people are like no they can't
and if you ask why inquiring further they'll be like because the guy will always secretly want to sleep with the girl.
and I guess my frustration is a followup ]question
"how does that matter? even if he DOES want to bone her does that make it impossible for them to remain as friends? I don't see how this is relevant. "

{@tory67] yes it is part of our human make up to have friends of either gender with friendship in mind and no strings attatched

Yes. My best friend is a female and I've only been her friend and nothing beyond that.
It is indeed possible.

Some guys want to be friends while others want to be more than friends.

Yes it’s perfectly natural but people are so gung ho about the me too movement it’s hard to trust anybody anymore
Teslin · M
Yes, we can. It's just more difficult for men. It is how we are wired.
I’d rather work with males any day of the week. Lol They are not as moody nor competitive with females.

I've heard it can happen

Of course they can. I’ve always had platonic male friends. People who claim it’s not possible are saying they can’t be friends with the opposite sex.
KuroNeko · 41-45, F
Maybe they can. Sadly I've never experienced it without feelings or sex getting in the way.
Notanymore · 41-45, M
Absolutely! And it can be completely platonic. However, most guy friends you've ever had, has considered having sex with you. Maybe not everyone, I can't speak for all. Men are just wired to consider sex with eligible women.

Can they be friends with a handicapped person
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Agreed. I have a few close women friends. They are attractive, but it would be strange dating them now.

Yep . If you don’t mind them staring at your boobs ! 😉. I have lots of guy friends
TakenDown232 · 46-50, M
Maybe they were not sexually attracted to you no matter how beautiful you are.
Or maybe some of them are gays.
