Guys can just be friends with a girl
I had some great friends among the guys at school, church, college and drama school without ever dating or whatever. They were great fun!

One guy I once heard about shared his apartment with a girl 'friend', and when he brought a potential girlfriend home she did everything she could to wreck their new relationship. Not all girls are like this, but there is a tendency with some to feel put aside if the friendship is viewed in the wrong way - i'e. possessive.
