What is the point of friends?

Other than to laugh at their bad ideas - and steal their good ones.
TexChik · F
For comfort mostly. We need people to talk to, we need people to care about, we need people to care about us. The joy I feel when I am out with my best friend is so worth it.
OliRos · 18-21, F
@TexChik That sounds special.
TexChik · F
@OliRos It is for me
scorpiolovedeep · 46-50, M
Totally agree, the comfort they offer without judgement @TexChik
Convivial · 26-30, F
Companionship is rather nice 🤗
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Convivial Yes, I can see that. But I am not big on companionship.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@OliRos and that's ok... We're all different and enjoy different things, is what makes life interesting and surprising🤗
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Convivial 🤗 For sure!

TRUE friends will look you in the eye, knowing the possible outcomes and tell you what you need to hear vs. what you want to. Pretty simple really....
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Freeranger If you say so...
Freeranger · M
@OliRos Hah....I emphatically "say so" with no shame. Having that type of friend, who can look you in the eye, and tell you what you need to hear is priceless....
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
We are social beings , while not needed , a person with no friends is usually sad and lonely. , not always but mostly.
meggie · F
Everyone needs friends for company, conversation, support etc.
darknessprevails · 26-30, M
Damn. Am i the only one that encourages friends to pursue the good ideas and give them some of my own ideas on how to make it a reality?
ArtieKat · M
Define "friends", Ms @OliRos? (Other than an American TV series popular all around the globe).
A tutorial paper for discussion next week?
OliRos · 18-21, F
@ArtieKat A friend is the sort of person who, when they make that sort of comment, you don't tell them to Foxtrot Oscar.
Montanaman · M
Or...
Laugh at their Good ideas, and steal their Bad ones. 👍👍🤪😆🤣
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Montanaman 😂😂 If you are so inclined.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
To judge others together
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Flenflyys 😂😂 Sounds like fun.
Safety in numbers
OliRos · 18-21, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout The numbers don't always add up.
Luke73 · 22-25, M
The only point of friendship is to access their protected and private members.
Luke73 · 22-25, M
@Luke73 Some other important things to note. Friendship is not transitive (a friend of your friend is not your friend). And friendship is not inherited (your friend's children are not your friends, and your friends are not your children's friends).
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Luke73 Well, that's all very sensible for a guy! 😂😂😂
Luke73 · 22-25, M
@OliRos I actually have a source for that:

https://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/language/friend
iamBen · M
Having someone to share experiences with.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Haha sometimes
calicuz · 51-55, M
"Friends" would have to be defined. I myself have "coworkers" that I consider friends, but I do not associate with them outside of work. I don't like them any less because of this.
If those the only type of people around you, you ain't got friends.
OliRos · 18-21, F
@NotSureAboutMyUserName What type would that be?
rfhh1959 · 61-69, M
A saying I enjoy is that "Friends are God's apology for your family."
Old friends are a treasure
