Are you a friends person, or a non-friends person?

I've pretty much been a non-friends person my whole life. I believe this is because I've been neuro-atypical and socially phobic my whole life. It reflects in my views on sex and relationships also.

I have zero knowledge of whether this is from birth (or pre-birth) or caused by (very) early childhood conditioning based around what I recall as being a very unhealthy psychologically-speaking family situation. My parents are both dead so can't ask them.

I have no problem being a friend’s person, but it needs to be mutual in terms of effort. I can’t be the only one reaching out, checking in, and keeping things going. I understand that sometimes people have things going on in life and need to step back, but if it becomes a habit in a way that feels deliberate, I distance myself.
