If this place had groups you could become members of the way EP did, it would be a lot easier to find people with your same interests. Here, everything all gets lumped together into the same general feed and leaves it up to broken algorithms and lots of scrolling to help us sort through it all.

Your best bet will probably be to look into the groups we have here and try to start discussions with people who post in those groups you're interested in. It's way too disorganized here to make friends naturally. The main feed is basically a joke. You might have better luck going on discord or reddit to meet people

It takes a while to find your people.
It is impossible to make someone interested in what you are if they are not, so you have to find people with those interests, if that is what you want to talk about.
If you don't like politics, then, I guess, don't engage with people who talk politics.
I am not always interested in everything my tribe likes, but we engage in other areas of life.
