Could have been worse

So Friday night we had a talk with my bubby about Star. Like I said could of been worse but it also could of been better. He wasn't happy and said he felt blindsided by Star telling him she didn't want to go away for school. He was also very upset that she told Joel and about it first. He never raises his voice but he came very close. I didn't tell him I the reason I knew was because she took some of my pills.

He asked us to go inside so they could talk privately. They we're out there for about an hour. The talk ending with them hugging and getting everything worked out. She going to be staying here and going to a local college.

After she went to bed the 3 of us finished our cigars and whiskey by the fire. I apologized to him. He said it was all good, he understands why she was nervous about telling him. He felt he put away to much pressure on her to follow in his footsteps. He even thanked me for being there for her.

So like I said it could of been worse.

This has worked out very well indeed.
The stress placed on Star has been removed because you went into bat for her.
It is never easy to raise a subject like this with a parent about their child.
You are a good man and you really should be proud of what you have done.

@Gusman thank you for that. I love Star. I've watched her grow up. She's like my 2nd daughter to me.

Her father is a very good kind person. I think he thought this was the best plan for her. He's so proud of her and I think he just wants what is best for her. I'm glad this worked out. I would of hated for to move out there and struggle and give up on her dreams. This way she have the support she needs and still be going to a very good school. Just not the one he went to.

He came over tonight with even better whiskey and cigars. We talked most of the night. I'm glad he did because I was worried he might be upset.

You should mention to your best friend that it is often possible to TRANSFER to a better school in your second year.

@4meAndyou yeah but honestly she just doesn't want to be that far away from him, her family and friends. There are great schools here to. I just think he was wanting to have the bond of saying oh we both went to this school....

@Cigarguy101 If SHE changes her mind later, she can transfer in to the cool school for her last year! And still graduate with the fancy schools name on her diploma!

Sounds like staying home and going to school locally is the best thing for her and everyone to be honest. 🙂
