Rounding the age off, he was almost 50 and she was nearly 20, 30 years is a considerable age gap. On the one hand, in many US states and countries, 19 is no longer considered a minor, an age when they're almost graduating from university but it does make you wonder what a mature man would have in common with a young person who is just starting out in life. On the other hand, sometimes love just happens, however stupid it may make them behave. It does seem to have been a successful relationship if they're still together all these years later and have raised their child to adulthood.
Having said that, I confess that my first crush at 15 was a handsome 30-year-old guy and when he began flirting with me, I chickened out lol...I deliberately avoided him because my mother adamantly reminded me that I was a minor and that he was too old for me. Now as an adult, it makes me look back and question his behavior. While he respected my decision, it makes me wonder why he flirted with me and did not draw boundaries, being the adult.
