How can people see things SO differently?

I was driving a friend of mine to his oncologists appointment on Monday, and the sky was just breathtaking. It looked a lot like this, but the navy blue streak was huge and dramatic...more pronounced, and there was a tiny patch of white on white cloud, with the sun peeking through.

This photo is really not the same...but gives you an idea of the colors.

I said to my friend, "Wow! Look at the sky!!! It's so beautiful!"

He looked up and said, "What's beautiful about it? It's just gray."

You might say he is just depressed because he had cancer and is 7 years into remission...but he has been this way for a very long time.

Its all about focus, isn't it?
I read something once that has stayed with me for years - if the stars in the sky were only visible once in a century, people would live their whole lives just to get a glimpse of that glory. But God is so extravagant that He lavishes them on us every day. And we take it for granted.

@daydeeo SOME take it for granted. Or don't even notice. Or twist that beauty, in their minds, into the dull gray that is a reflection of their own soul.
