What are friends?

So here's the thing i want to know what is the difference in this day and age between a friend and an acquaintance?
When i was growing up a friend was someone you hung out with or talked to on a regular basis, now well im not even sure anymore 🙃

I think an acquaintance is somebody you know and get along with but unlike a friend not someone you would feel comfortable asking advice on something more personal in your life.

We have great friends who will do almost anything for each other. My friend drove me to the doctor last week so Lynn wouldn't have to. He will also pick me up from the hospital after my surgery later this week. Another friend will feed us that night.

@exexec I hope your surgery went ok nothing serious was wrong. How is Lynn doing?

@olderuncle944 Surgery will be Thursday. Lynn is fine. She doesn't like to drive in Houston traffic, so I was glad my buddy helped out.

@exexec It is great to have good friends they are hard to find and harder to keep.

I struggle with this as well. But honestly it’s mostly my fault. I don’t open up because of bad life experiences from my past.

Really it’s just difficult to trust anyone anymore.

The meaning remaining the same today. Social media want to make you believe it changed. Who has 12,000 friends? But Friends sounds better than acquaintances.

Old phrase - a friend in need is a friend indeed.
If along with hanging out they can help you financially then they are your friends.
