Weird moment

I just came to the house because my dogs were barking. Just before I got here a truck went down the road real slow, turned around at the neighbors house and came back real slow. I stood in my driveway so they would see me thinking they might be lost or they could be looking for me, not that I was expecting any company today. Apparently not as they continued to drive.

Just remembered a neighbor who doesn't seem to be home much lately so I rode up there to be sure there wasn't anyone there who wasn't supposed to be, then made a circle around the neighborhood, no sign of the truck. Hopefully whoever it was learned that there are 4 large dogs loose in my yard, and just because there isn't a vehicle at my house doesn't mean I'm not within earshot.

This is where I miss my German Shepherd. He was a big boy and very territorial.
I live in the country down a long private dirt road, so if you're driving that far in, you'll be coming for a purpose, or for more nefarious reasons.
We do suffer break-in's here, but I'm usually present aside from the occasional junket to Phoenix, or a quick ride to town.
I'm armed, and as they say, "head or a swivel."

@Freeranger I work from home most days and my truck is usually parked out at the shop so unless someone knows that they can't be sure if I'm here or not. Once upon a time I had a bull dog I found abandoned on the side of the road. He had been abused and looked extremely rough but was harmless. People tended to panic when they saw him coming around the corner of the house.

On the other hand, maybe they were just admiring the neighborhood. No need to be afraid of everything in America.

@hunkalove There's not much of a neighborhood to admire. There was a saw mill town here a hundred years ago but it's long gone. There's more or less a half dozen families in here and the thru traffic amounts to log trucks and hunters. We normally don't get people wandering around down in here in these woods unless they are looking for someone or are lost.

I hope you are also armed. The world is scary these days.
robb65 · 56-60, M
@RosaMarie I'm pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Everyone here is armed. I mentioned the truck to a friend who worked for the sheriffs department, he thought the same thing I was thinking.

@robb65 stay safe.

Nothing quite like a four legged friend to put the shiters up a couple of burglars.
Wol62 · 51-55, M
Wow, would they have chased him?
robb65 · 56-60, M
@Wol62 They are mostly harmless but can put on a good show. There's an underground fence that most likely they would not have crossed.

Unlock the gun cabinet
robb65 · 56-60, M
@Tres13 No cabinet to lock but I'm not far from a gun.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Well, whether they meant any harm or not, you'll never know, but that's probably a good thing.
