It's okay to cry...

My elderly neighbor husband after 57 years of marriage passed away almost a month ago and for the most part she's been okay but she'll cry sometimes and always say I'm sorry for crying............. Why?????? I was like you just lost the love of your life why are you apologizing for crying? I don't understand that at all. I would be bawling every chance I got! They've been my neighbor for the past 14 years. They moved up from Florida because they were tired of running from hurricanes. 😂 She told me they met while she was on a family vacation after that week of vacationing she flew back to Indiana packed her bags and they were married within 2 weeks of meeting each other. She told me she knew he was the one for her. ❤️ That's why I told her she could cry all she wanted to and I'll hold her while she cries. I wrote this because she called me at 7 this morning to come get some CAN soups she had 😂 she calls me Bunny she was like Bunny come on over right now and get this soup 🥴 I threw on my robe and walked over...... *sigh* Lord bless her heart! I wanted to say can you wait until after 9:30 😂🤣😂🤣

She must feel so lonely now. :'( As to why she apologizes for crying, I guess many people just feel like they shouldn't "burden" other people with their problems. So often we're raised to be stoic and not share, particularly with non-family or non-close friends. I's wonderful you;re being so nice and understanding.

@ChipmunkErnie That's true some of us are raised that way. She's not only a neighbor but she's been a really good friend of mine and I'll do anything to help her during this difficult time.

@PEACH4LIFE She's lucky to have you.

My mom calls me crying all the time. She misses my dad so much. She always says sorry. Gosh she never has to say sorry. Im.feel so sorry for her. I dont even have words to say. I just let her cry and ttry to talk to me. Death is so sad.
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@Eddiesolds Yesssssss it is. You're helping her so much just by listening to her. Just reassure it's okay and theres no need to apologize. Big hugs!

Yes of course crying is OK sometimes that's how you vent your emotions it's like a release valve to get it out so definitely let her cry she needs a good cry to get all of that emotion out she'll be alright it's just gonna take time
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@Bklynbadboy12 yes she will be. She has 2 daughters and one of them will be moving in with her and I'm glad about that so she won't be be alone. But she told me she wanted 3 months by herself so she could think.
Bklynbadboy12 · 31-35, M
@PEACH4LIFE Yes she has all of that and that's a good thing but you forgot one thing that's really important she has you and that right now seems to be more valuable to her than anything because she's opening up to you so it shows she's comfortable enough to let you in and that's a big deal cause it means she trust you
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@Bklynbadboy12 she's not only my neighbor but she's a good friend too!
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
I totally understand what she's going through. My father passed away two weeks ago. That emptiness will be there for quite a while.
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@Barefooter25 I'm so sorry for your loss. My parents have been deceased for 21 years now and I'm still empty. I just live with it.
xbandoleerx · 56-60, M
Good that you are supporting her in this testing time. And good that you didn’t turn down or asked her to defer the soup to a later hour.
Time is unpredictable
xbandoleerx · 56-60, M
@PEACH4LIFE Being a good human is a Godly act 👍
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@xbandoleerx I wholeheartedly agree!

It’s hard to predict someone’s behavior in her situation, she’s very fortunate to have a good neighbor like you. At this point she feels vulnerable and twisted, I know from experience.
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@BackyardShaman yeah I know how it feels to loose someone you love. She's old enough to be my mom but she's been a really good neighbor and friend to me. I'm glad I'm able to be here for her.
Aww, my condolences to her and to you. I agree that she can [and should] cry as she needs to. She's going through a profound adjustment. I'm sure she appreciates you being there for her.😍
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@DreamyCrush She's a good friend of mine as well. I'm glad I'm able to be there for her. I know she'd go over and beyond to make me feel better. ❤️
SoLeRiMix · 31-35, M
That's why I told her she could cry all she wanted to and I'll hold her while she cries.
God bless you...🙏
I am sure you'll take good care of her.😇
She sees you as a good friend. May the warmth of your friendship never perish.🙏
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@SoLeRiMix Thank you and I see her as a really good friend too. I'll be here for her as long as she needs me....

It seems very strange to marry two weeks after meeting her new husband, she did not mourn for very long at all. I suppose at her age she was excited about the honeymoon and not much time left on this earth.

I wonder if she knew this person before and it making up this story of just meeting him, or was she afraid to die alone.
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@nedkelly ohhh nooooooo. She married her husband the one that's deceased after only meeting him for 2 weeks. They were both young and very much in love.
Bklynbadboy12 · 31-35, M
Do you cry ans when was the last time you did
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@Bklynbadboy12 I do cry but it's been awhile since I had a good cry.

I think we apologize for crying because it's hard on us and the people around us. You are right, we shouldn't apologize for crying/letting our sadness out.
Give your neighbor a hug for me, please.... and always tell her it's okay to cry.
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@SW-User I sure will! She needs all the hugs she can get.

@PEACH4LIFE Thank you. I agree she needs lots of hugs.
I feel bad for people like her... life gets hard when those we love are no longer with us.
PEACH4LIFE · 46-50, F
@SW-User yes it does.....

@Stereoguy I know. My parents died when I was 26. My dad died first and my Mom died 4 months after from a broken heart. They had been married 40 years. I couldn't clean the house out it was just to sad for me. I got something of both of them and let my siblings do the rest.
