In my opinion, one can like get into music and not agree with their politics. In my case, I like the band Rise Against, and listen to them all the time, but I don't agree with a lot of what they sing about.

I separate art from the artist.

@Bri89 to an extent. But wouldn't find it weird if someone was liberal and listened to Screwdriver or Burzum?
Bri89 · 36-40, M
@basilfawlty89 If the music is good, I guess to me it doesn't matter. Though I have to admit I don't know anything about those two that you mentioned.

@basilfawlty89 NGL I had a Burzum period before I really knew what Varg was about.

@MethDozer hmm, well to be fair I don't think Burzum itself had any obvious Nazi reference, but Varg's later work definitely does.

@Bri89 I get that to a point. But some bands music is so political that it is the core of it and when the politics are so opposed between the listener and the artist it can be odd. Especially if they are getting really into the lyrics.

@basilfawlty89 Not really. Sorta but at face value it was more just misanthropic and Paleo-humanist.

Sorta in the way that once his nazi sympathies came clear it kinda gels.

@MethDozer I understand that.
@Bri89 I get that, to some extent. I love classical music. And I’ve no doubt some of those composers would be perplexed to see someone like me playing their work.
