You ever find out someone's full name and it surprises you?

I've had a friend for over twelve years who calls herself Andi, and I always assumed it was short for Andrea. I saw her driving license today and found out her real name is actually Andromeda.

That is kind of a neat surprise. 😊 I'm a little surprised it never came up in conversation before...lol

(Maybe she's a little shy about it...?)

@Shipwrecked It's certainly likely. Despite how long I've known her, she does keeps a lot of personal stuff pretty secretive.

I can't remember a time like that, other than one friend finding out my middle name (I'm not saying) and he was surprised and loved it because it basically describes me so well.
Viper · M
@Khenpal1 I was thinking something similar lol 😂 not enough know history other than the most famous.

@Viper That's probably true lol in my case it's Milosevic.

Some would be a bit surprised if they knew the meaning of my last name and it's origins and translations.

Just reading it at a glance it looks a bit plain. Yet it has a long long history. Dating back to 400 AD.

@DeWayfarer My name is fairly unremarkable considering my ethnicity but unfortunately I share the name with a particularly detestable person who is very famous.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick historically I can say the same since the root of his name is derived from my family name. Even a certain set of repugnant historical laws is derived from my historical family name. 😔

That’s really cool, actually.
Wow. That's out of this world.
DIMaverick4 · 41-45, M
You didn't know your friends name for 12 years?! You must have really hit off with her to ignore knowing her full name 👌
DIMaverick4 · 41-45, M
@BlueMetalChick that's why I said you must have really hit it off with her :)
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@DIMaverick4 I tend to make friends easily lol
DIMaverick4 · 41-45, M
@BlueMetalChick you sound like fun!
Man... That has to be one of the coolest names.

@OogieBoogie It brings to mind the Andromeda Galaxy, which takes its name from the constellation of Andromeda. And the constellation in turn is named after a mythological character from Greek history, the daughter of the king and Queen of Aethiopia, Cepheus and Cassiopeia.

Her story goes basically that Andromeda and her mother were very beautiful women, but Cassiopeia got too full of herself and began bragging that she was even prettier than the Nereides. Poseidon gets pissed off at her arrogance so he floods the coastline and sends a giant sea monster called Cetus to destroy everything. Cassiopeia and Cepheus decide to satiate the monster by sacrificing Andromeda to him, so they chain her naked to a boulder for him to eat. But at the last second, the hero Perseus leaps over the boulder and stabs Cetus in the head, frees Andromeda, and then they fall in love and move back to Greece to get married.
@BlueMetalChick yeah I got told the name stargazing with my brother.

Didnt know till years later the legend of it.

My high school friend Bill never disclosed his middle name until graduation when “marmaduke” was revealed
