If you' ve gained nothing

by dealing with someone... What have you to loose in leaving them behind?🤔
SW-User
Nothing to lose. I often feel it's best to just move on and let go.
Too often, a hollow friendship, etc... just brings a person down. No sense
in hanging on.
RubySoo · 56-60, F
@SW-User yeah....you are 100% right. I just struggle to let go completely...always have.
SW-User
@RubySoo It's not always easy to let go.
RubySoo · 56-60, F
@SW-User never for me. X
SW-User
My thoughts exactly…especially if their impact is a negative one…a healthy choice is to cut them free
SW-User
@Trippin I wondered…I definitely think it’s been the right decision for me…almost freeing
Trippin · F
@SW-User Good 💕🥰
SW-User
@Trippin 🥰❤️
Should personal benefit always be the deciding factor?
Trippin · F
@Mamapolo2016 Good point. Id say no... Maybe till the toll of tolerance begins to out weigh it. 🤷‍♀️
@Trippin I suppose it depends on why you are dealing with them.

Certainly if a partner or close friend requires you to emotionally, mentally, physically carry the entire load, find the nearest exit.
Trippin · F
@Mamapolo2016 Well said, Mama. And certainly heard by me. ❤️
SW-User
... Exactly that's why I ended up blocking them. It became just too much and felt that nothing good was left.
Trippin · F
@SW-User Yep... I can certainly relate to that. Definitely.

There's always something to be gained in human interaction, even if it's with sociopaths. Ideally we'd like people to add joy, beauty, comfort, patience and support to our lives. If you feel that knot in the stomach dread and uncertainty in dealing with someone, they're still adding an experience that will aid in sorting the wheat from the chaff later on.
Trippin · F
@luckranger71 Well said, Luck. I tend to ask questions that seek diversity as sooo many answers are Best Answer simply depending on perspective. ❤
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@Trippin You are a searcher and not content with easy answers, which is fantastic and will serve you well. Most people (myself included for sure) don't take that extra step of challenging their own preconceptions as much as they should.
Nothing. So you shouldn’t hesitate to leave if you feel it is necessary.
Trippin · F
@CookieCrumbs Amen ❤
Do we ever truly gain nothing from dealing with people???

Sometimes, the lessons aren't instantly apparent... but they present themselves through reflection over time...
Trippin · F
@HootyTheNightOwl Wow... I had to read a few times... Good stuff.

As much as I dislike an admission, I oftentimes have this me me me mentality. Truth. Working to change that.

Thank you... For helping me. 🤷‍♀️
@Trippin You should eventually reach a point where you stop looking inwards and start to look out at the world. It takes time and work... but you get there eventually.

I'm still a work in progress myself. It's not easy for me to accept when I've helped someone all I can and it's time for me to let go and make way for the next person on their life's path. I can feel a bit bitter and resentful because it had to end at times - so I'm working on accepting that they are doing the best for them... whether I agree with it or not, it's still the best for them.
Trippin · F
@HootyTheNightOwl That is where I wish to be. A paradox to me at times... I can rationalize... see a situation for what it is. Know in my heart how my reaction should be..because I feel it. But then like a learned behavior or defence mechanism...both... I quickly make a 180 and my actions simply become something I regret. 🤷‍♀️

Enjoy very much your expressions of humility.
Trippin · F
@MrBrownstone Damn!! That dude spit some truth for real.
Lilymoon · F
you've gained a learned experience. Live and learn as they say. Even if it's the hard way.
Trippin · F
@Lilymoon Definitely an awesome shared opinion... One that fits you well. 💗
We Americans are taught never to quit. I think we overdue it. There are many good reasons to quit. You just listed one of the top reasons. Life is too short to surround myself with those who bring me down, but even more so those who don't lift me up.
Trippin · F
@BiasForAction Well said. And that sinks kinda deep as I was indeed taught to never give up... Certainly a paradox or sorts.
SW-User
@BiasForAction I tend to stay around too much with those that bring me down as well to my own detriment.

What you have already lost on them:

Love, energy, time, effort and probably more...
Trippin · F
@Soossie Alway feel your truth 💕
@Trippin

Thank you beautiful.. 😘🌻🌻🌻
Trippin · F
@Soossie 🥰😘🌷
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
There's always lessons to be learnt... So gained nothing?... Nah
Trippin · F
@ozgirl512 Hmmmm.. Always love your perspectives... A part of the equation I had not considered...🤔
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@Trippin I think maybe so... Everything is a learning experience... If you're smart 🤗
Trippin · F
@ozgirl512 😘
Darkskiescoming · 51-55, M
Don't leave me behind. I promise to do better... 😊
Trippin · F
@Darkskiescoming Haha.. Never not gonna pack you when on any trip. 💕
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
I think you gain inner peace
Trippin · F
@vetguy1991 Absolutely ❤️
SW-User
Nothing to lose, as they say.
Trippin · F
@SW-User They do...an I tend to agree.
A better tomorrow, if one does not.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
She owes me $50!
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
Nothing. It's all good
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Good point. One MUST remove certain individuals before they can do more damage. Sure, you might learn something from observing them but unless your name is Milgram, best to cut them loose. Ain't nobody got time for that.
Trippin · F
@uncalled4 Well said...🤔
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@Trippin Thanks.
SW-User
@uncalled4 observing for too long is exhausting as well
My self respect and goodness of heart.
Trippin · F
@NerdyPotato Hmmm... So by right of departure from a bad experience with another, you yourself loose your self respect?🤔
@Trippin no, no, no. If I gained toxicity, then moving away would gain me self respect. Your question was about gaining nothing from someone. I interpreted that as nothing negative either.
Trippin · F
@NerdyPotato Ahhhh... I see now. My bad. The absence of inflection in text often screws with my interpretation.

I agree ❤
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
Nice words 👍
SW-User
Not a whole lot, I suppose. Which is why I stopped having out with most of my old friends.
Trippin · F
@SW-User So.. I flip this an use what some here have showed me... You gained a perspective on how not you wish to live your life. 🤷‍♀️
Lilnonames · F
Thats why people are leaving here as they gained nothing
Trippin · F
@Lilnonames Perhaps... We all gotta make our own choices... Even in how we see opportunity.

@RogueLoner Interesting take...🤔... Perhaps all comes down to an emotional investment.
